Story:

Set in a fictional town of some fictional country, you take control of your average good guy. Recently losing your average job, and having nothing to do, your average parents sent you to take care of the not-so-average house of your recently deceased grandfather...

Seeing this as a fine opportunity to start again in another town, you move to your grandfather's house, and since it's pretty big and has a fair amount of empty rooms, you decide to make a living out of renting them~

The thing is, for plot-convenient reasons, this town has a high female-to-male ratio~ So your new tenants are all women~!

Also, the game respectfully borrows a lot from Japanese pop culture, like manga and anime. Harem Residence is a weeb game, so expect some terms like "nii-san", "tsundere", "yandere", "oyakodon", "chuunibyou". Honorifics like "-san", "-kun" and so on.

But nothing cringe and unnatural.

While not common, I do see some people asking why the Android build of the game has a considerably low file size compared to the PC builds. In the section "Install instructions" in this site, I've clarified this, but I'll make this post and explain in detail why the builds are different.

Harem Residence comes in different flavors. There's a build for PC, there's a build for MAC, there are Low Quality builds and there's an Android build.

The amount of content is exactly the same regardless of the build. The difference between the regular builds to the low quality ones is, actually, just the image quality.

At the time of me making this post, the game has over 12,500 renders/images packed in it. For the sake of this explanation, let's say each image is worth one megabyte (actually, many of them weight more). That'd make the game over 12gb in size, the images only.

To fight that, I use different methods to reduce the size of the images without compromising their quality... in a noticeable level, at least.

The Low Quality builds take the image compression to an extreme. It makes the game look much worse, but the size of the game is under one gigabyte. Making it easier to download to those with poor internet connections. And, it doesn't look that bad if your monitor's resolution is under 1080p.

Android builds also use this image quality, for two reasons. Phones tend to have small screens, so the bad quality is less noticeable. The second reason is that APK files are limited to 2gb, I believe, so better to keep it safe.

I hope this gives some clarification on build differences.

The setup of what is going down in Harem Residence sees our beloved grandfather passing away and leaving as a huge ass house. The house is located in another town, and our parents are not able to move to take care of it so that is where we come in. We head to the house to look after it, but this house has a lot of rooms and we are a good guy who likes to help people so we decide that we will offer our rooms to young ladies who need them. Honestly, there is nothing seedy about this. From what I could tell, the MC is actually a nice guy and wants to help people…. He just has the benefit of getting laid a bunch while helping.

If you were rocking out to Motley Crue as you read that, we can be friends. Harem Residence is at its best when you are talking to the many, many ladies that you encounter in this game. I was shocked at the vast number of female characters for us to chat with in this game. You may think that they are as shallow as can be as there are so many of them, but that is not the case. Sure, some ladies are more interesting than others, but for the most part, I felt that the girls all had their own personality, and there were more than a few that I thought were really cool, and I connected with them.

For the most part, I would say that the majority of what you do with Harem Residence is your standard lewd visual novel gameplay. You encounter these girls and you chat with them and get to know them better. You are not just doing this for sex, and trying to be a nice and helpful guy is the order here, and that is what is ultimately going to get you to connect with them on a romantic level. The game is always moving forward, and while there is some clicking around here and there. For the most part, this felt like a very chill and relaxing kind of experience to me, hence the 1 AM hot chocolate and dressing gown combo that I had going on while I played this.

Hey, even though there is a bit of a cozy game and nice guy thing going on here with Harem Residence, that does not mean our MC is not getting a whole lot of hot action from these ladies. Something I liked was how there were ladies outside of the house that we could interact with, too. The game in general, has a very anime kind of style to it, and the characters have nice and large facial features and are very impressive. The sex content here is awesome, and it just ramps up and up the more that you play it. A huge ass orgy with all the babes was not the ending I was expecting, but I was very happy it was an option!

Install instructions:

Harem Residence comes in different flavors. There is a build for personal computers (PC), Mac and Android. With an alternative Low Quality (LQ) build available as well.

The difference between a regular build, and low quality, is the file size and image quality. If you possess high speed internet and more than 20gb of free space, pick the regular build. Otherwise, the low quality build is there for you, but be aware that the image quality is considerably lowered in order to save space in your device.

Each build is tagged respectively. PC for Windows and Linux users. MAC and Android.

FIRST TIME INSTALL

PC users can simply download the zip, extract the contents in a desired folder, and run the respective executable (.exe for Windows and .sh for Linux).

MAC users must follow a similar method to run the game.

Android users must enable the installation of untrusted applications (APKs) and, possibly, disable Play Protect in order to be able to install Harem Residence on their devices. With this done, just download the .apk and install it.

UPDATING

PC and MAC users can simply download the latest version of the game and unzip the contents on their desired folder. Saves will carry over normally.

Android users must download the latest .apk and install it on top of a previous version for it to update. BEWARE. The default behavior of Android is deleting leftover files when you uninstall an application. Saves are considered leftover files. If you uninstall Harem Residence, there's a high possibility of you losing your saves.

When you have the game working in your device, you can delete the zip/apk to save space.
