Book of Korvald game’s story is about This is the saga of Korvald, a viking scribe, and his alliance with a parasitic entity that answers to the name “Qhroth’un”. History does not tell us that viking clans had scribes of their own. Their folklore is said to have been preserved through oral traditions exclusively, but this is not the truth. Many written sagas of the vikings were damaging to the reputation of royal families and expository to the church so these writings, along with their authors, were aggressively purged from existence. Korvald’s is not a tale of heroism and justice, but of deceit and suffering provoked by powerful religious empires.

– Each chapter takes place across an entire country, spanning over 30 areas. Starting in Denmark near the city of Ribe, drawing inspiration from the conversion to Christianity that took place around the 9th century in Scandinavia.

Weapons:

– 200+ different weapons to find or buy from various shops. Axes, Swords, Maces, Whips, Spears, Flails, Daggers, Shields, and Books (yes books).

Artifacts:

– 30+ different artifacts and special off-hand weapons to equip. You could raise the dead Templar knights as zombie minions, inflict plagues on nearby enemies, and even cause certain NPCs (and even some enemies) to strip naked (because… why not?).

Runes:

– Korvald will discover the true meaning and origin of runes and runestones. Utilizing his unique insight into this powerful language, he will gain the ability to harness many destructive and helpful forces. Unleash flaming cyclones, lightning storms, arctic blizzards, healing waters and even summon eldritch creatures to aid you in combat.

At The Behest Of The Church

The old world with a hint of fantasy setting that Book of Korvald is just awesome. We play as a Viking scribe called Korvald. The Church (the Catholic Church) is waging war with any that have views different from theirs and poor Korvald’s village is one of the places that they burn to the ground. Not only do they destroy his village, his family is brutally killed in the process. However, there is a force, a powerful force that is going to offer Korvald a helping hand.

A Sprinkle Of Lovecraft

I do not want to dive into spoilers because the story of Book of Korvald is the best aspect of the game in my opinion. However, this is pretty much a revenge story, but the Lovecraftian twist comes in the form of this “entity” called Qhroth'un who is going to bestow upon Korvald powers that will allow him to get his pound of flesh and get revenge on those who have ruined his life. The game starts with an amazing prologue that gives you all the back story you need and the story is then given to you as you progress at perfect intervals to keep you invested in what is going on.

Sometimes A Smack The Head Is Best

Book of Korvald is a pretty badass and action packed kind of side scroller. There are numerous stages that you have to fight your way through and there is a lot of variety to their design. The fighting feels heavy, meaty, and satisfying and there is a lot of variety to the “build” that you can have. Different weapons and abilities are here for you to play around with. However, I will admit, that I found just mele attacking the enemies head on was the way to go. I had very little issue plowing my way through the game this way, I kind of had to force myself to use my other abilities. The combat is fun and if you do mix it up, you will have a blast with it. Yet, the temptation to just smash your way through it is there and this may cause you to lose interest.

Big Thick Norse Babes

Style wise, Book of Korvald is one of the most awesome looking lewd games of the year. The Norse mythology mixed with Lovecraftian elements is such an awesome style and something that off the top of my head I am not sure I have seen before. The characters are all big and thick and you have some very nice looking ladies that you will come across on your quest for revenge. There are also your more Lovecraftian looking creatures as well which are as grotesque as you would imagine. It does have an “internal” camera which is never something I am into, but hey for those who like it, it is there.
