This game really has come a long way since day one. And I'm not talking about the PS2 version, I'm talking about the D-edition. I've heard about all the bugs and issues it had on day 1 and all I can say is "WOW", what an awesome game experience. If you enjoyed the old school version, then there's no reason why you won't appreciate this. It runs so smooth and looks so well polished. I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm the middle of playing it I had a flash back to when I was younger playing it at my parents house back in the day and a big wave of nostalgia hit me. Thank you Rockstar for the memories. But that doesn't mean I'll forgive you for the pile of crap GTAV was.
Honestly my expectations for this game in particular, as well as the rest of the trilogy, were/are pretty low. And I was proven correct. 99.999% of the game mechanics stayed the same, the audio still has the same 12k hz quality, and at the end of the day the most significant changes were visual and the weapon/radio wheel which was kinda pointless to use imo. So at the end of the day this is no RE or Silent Hill treatment, just your usual texture polishing. But it personally helped me explore the game with a little more curiosity than my last playthroughs, so at the end of the day it was an enjoyable experience.Is it worth paying 60$/€, which is the full price right now? No, that would be totally silly.But for less than 10 bucks a game (was 60% off in the autumn sale), it is an acceptable deal. Definitely not a steal though.
This game is tough, much more difficult than GTA: San Andreas or Vice City. The paramedic missions, in particular, gave me a hard time; I failed multiple attempts trying to complete them. The gangs are extremely aggressive, the moment you step into their territory, they start shooting like crazy.If you're aiming for 100% Completion, I highly recommend finishing all the side missions early on. It'll save you a lot of frustration later when the streets get more dangerous.Despite the challenge, I had a great time playing this game. It's intense, rewarding and absolutely worth playing.
