What's important is that just about everything in the game can be animation cancelled after a certain point, such as attacking and then jumping or attacking and dodging, dodging and jumping, so on. As the game progresses and gives you more options for moving around, like the double jump and the air dash, moving around is surprisingly fun to do, which is a huge plus for these platforming-heavy games. It never feels like the character is moving too slow through a section, you're always given a point to speed through by chaining jumps into airdashes into rolls and quickly getting to the enemies or puzzles.
