Be Prepared: In the words of our favorite feline Disney villain, be prepared. Preparation goes a long way in this epic Dark Souls-esque game. Going into a boss fight without a decent stock of health and sanity potions? You’re pretty much asking to get slaughtered. If you want to survive the menacing creatures which populate the world of Pascal’s Wager you will need to take the time to stock your inventory. This means crafting potions at altars every chance you get.You’ll also want to make sure you have at least a few throwing knives, or other consumable range weapons equipped whenever possible. Throwing knives are an indispensable tool. When an enemy attacks from an unreachable location, consumable ranged weapons allow you to even the playing field. While you’ll occasionally find ranged weapons as you explore, it’s never a bad idea to trade with any Sifler you may come across. Sure, it’ll cost you a few bones you could have otherwise spent on leveling up or crafting sanity potions. But bones are rather easy to come by, while fire jars and throwing knives are far scarcer.

Complete All Side Quests: If you haven’t caught the completionist bug, you may be tempted to opt out of side quests. If so, I would advise you to reconsider. Pascal’s Wager’s side quests rarely take you far off course of your main objective. In such a challenging game, you’re going to want every bit of bone you can get your hands on to level up your characters. Besides, side quests will net you some extra rewards. For instance, the side quest “Mother and Daughter” can be completed easily without ever straying from the main path, and nets you a piece of warm flesh as well as gives you the opportunity to earn some extra bone fragments.

Choose Your Companion Well: As you progress through Pascal’s Wager, you’ll unlock several playable characters who will accompany Terrance on his journey. Whenever Terrance departs the carriage, you’ll be able to select one companion to accompany him. Each of these characters bring their own strengths and weaknesses to the table.Norwood, for example, inflicts heavy damage but attacks slowly, which leaves him more vulnerable to enemy attacks. Benita, the blind nun, attacks incredibly quickly with her holy whip, but use of said weapon causes her health bar to slowly deplete. When choosing a companion to accompany Terrance, its important to take your playstyle into account. Pascal’s Wager isn’t the type of game you can simply hack and slash your way through. If you prefer to attack quickly and don’t mind keeping an eye on your health bar then Benita is your best bet. However, if you prefer a character equally balanced in ranged and melee attacks, the gun-toting Viola is for you. If you value damage over speed, Norwood’s your man. Of course, if you’re having trouble keeping your chosen companion alive you can always return to the carriage and choose another.

Be Strategic with your Immundus: To unlock and upgrade character abilities in Pascal’s Wager, you’ll need to get your hands on some immundus. Of course, immundus isn’t the most plentiful resource, so you’ll want to spend it wisely, especially since you’ll be splitting these resources between all playable characters. As you choose which skills to unlock, consider each character’s strengths and weaknesses. For instance, since Benita’s attacks slowly deplete her health, increasing the effectiveness and number of potions she can have in stock is a smart move early on. However, when considering upgrades for Viola, who deals less damage, unlocking new attack abilities is the better bet.
