Pocket Crystal League is a Pokémon card adventure game. Its gameplay mechanics are inspired by Inscryption, allowing players to quickly pick up and embark on a unique card adventure. In Pocket Crystal League, players will face numerous choices and challenges, gradually building up their team. Your goal is to adventure through Kyoumu, challenge the region's eight Gym Leaders, and ultimately win the Crystal League. Along the way, you will battle other Trainers, constantly grow stronger, acquire powerful abilities, and ultimately become the strongest in the world.
In Pocket Crystal League, you play as a Pokémon trainer on the road to the Crystal League. With a starter deck, you have to travel across the Kyoumu region, battling every Gym Leader in the eight major cities to qualify in the league. As you collect badges along the way, you can build your deck, have your creatures gain new abilities, and battle against other aspiring champions.
As mentioned, the gameplay mechanics are a no-brainer. If you’re familiar with deck-building and card battle games, you won’t have a hard time crafting a winning deck and dominating battle arenas. The cards include Pokémons from Generations I-IV with their corresponding Fairy Types, illustrated in pixel art style. This means you can get the chance to become a league champ with the iconic trio: Bulbasaur, Charmeleon, and Squirtle.
For more content and features, you can explore various mods and expansion packs designed by the community. Although, you can already consider some of those as alternate versions of the base game. In terms of game balance, beginners can be in a tight spot, despite the straightforward mechanics. So, if you’re one of those attempting this game for the first time, it pays to ask for tips from the community.

PCL+ and PCL++ are both standalone mods based on the v1.6 base game (not the latest release). They have a bunch of different features and additions (glyphs, events, cards, etc.), and they also changed some core stuff altogether as well. Because of these changes though, sadly, they can also be somewhat unbalanced (further than the base game), and multiple people have been reporting bugs that can either cause major issues, or even break save files completely. Consider them as a different, alternate version of PCL, with some additions, changes, and some things missing as well (mostly due to the older version they're based on). Other than that, though, the mods can be pretty fun, and worth checking out! I suggest doing so after playing through vanilla first, though- but yeah! I am genuinely honored that people were able to build such cool things from the base game.
Neither the mods nor vanilla are gonna receive any further updates. The mod teams have moved on to work on other things, and so have I. Although, I've said the same thing multiple times and then I go and update the base game again a bunch, so who knows, really.

Pros
Challenging gameplay
Easy-to-grasp mechanics
Charming pixel art graphics
Modding support
Cons
Unapproachable for beginners

PCL is a Poke-card game, although completely different to the Official Trading Card Game. The gameplay mechanics were partially inspired by Inscryption, being pretty straightforward and easy to learn. The game may be expanded with more content and generations in the future, but there are no plans currently for it. It is fully playable in its current state.
