Story of Ultimate Spider-Man:

In fact, the game’s plot focuses on the tense confrontation between Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and Eddie Brock, his childhood friend who has transformed into the terrifying monster Venom. This is a dramatic story of betrayal and dangerous Symbiote power.

Ultimate Spider-Man’s plot is built on tragedy and family secrets, starting with a failed scientific project. Peter Parker (Spider-Man) discovers that both his father and his childhood friend Eddie Brock’s father once collaborated to create the Symbiote – a bionic suit designed to cure diseases.

After Peter accidentally comes into contact with and removes the Symbiote because it causes him to lose control, the remaining specimen falls into the hands of Eddie Brock. Eddie, believing the Symbiote to be his father’s legacy and betrayed by Peter, becomes the rampaging monster Venom.

Throughout the game, players will control each character alternately, showcasing how each character approaches similar experiences in distinctly different ways. Another route in Peter’s story involves him being pursued by S.H.I.E.L.D., directed by Nick Fury, and being entangled in a conspiracy associated with the sponsor of the project, Bolivar Trask. Eventually, Peter has to battle Eddie/Venom to put a stop to the Symbiote disaster for good.

Moving Fast: Needless to say, swinging to your destination is much faster than walking, but there's more you can do to speed up your trip. While swinging, hold down the web trigger and press the punch button to get a small boost in speed. If you time it right, you can carry this boost of speed forward after you release the web, effectively catapulting yourself forward. Press the boost button just before you release your web and you'll boost your momentum for the next web swing.You can further extend your forward momentum by making use of the double jump feature that's been added to the game. After boosting forward and releasing your web, press the jump button in mid-air to roll forward and gain more horizontal distance. As you begin to drop back towards the ground, press the web button again to start swinging and begin the process anew.

No Skyscrapers? No Problem: Normally, you'd have problems web-swinging without any skyscrapers to latch onto. After all, you need to connect to something that's higher than you in order to swing from it. Fortunately, the web zip makes up for what regular web-swinging lacks.Press both shoulder buttons to perform a web zip. Your web will attach to anything in front of you, even if it's actually lower than your current altitude. Spider-Man will tug himself forward, letting you quickly double jump to propel yourself closer to your objective. This move is great for moving across building tops, and even better for changing direction in the middle of swinging through the city.

Thug Suppression: The majority of City Events simply require you to pummel a group of thugs into submission. Find the enemies wherever they are and use your combos to take 'em out. You can use mid-air dive attacks to bounce off of one enemy and move to the next, letting you combo multiple enemies in one combo and build up your attack damage.When an enemy is knocked down, web 'em up to ensure that they don't get up again. If an enemy is already webbed up the moment they're knocked out, they'll stay bound forever. This means you can web up an enemy and toss him around a bit to knock him without having to worry about finishing him off with one last web. This same principle can be applied to thugs that are on rooftops. Face the edge of a building and grab an enemy with your webs. Rotate the left analog stick to fling the enemy off of the building, sending them to the ground far below. They'll automatically be knocked out and since they're already tied up you don't have to worry about following them to seal the deal.

Ultimate Spider-Man is the first Marvel superhero game that allows you to explore all of New York freely, and even play as Venom! The game has a never-before-seen story intertwined with the comics and is full of secrets and mini-games to discover, which made me spend hours trying to find them all. It would be great to be able to play it again!

Love this game and the run it's based on, would love to see it on GoG in the future.I managed to find an old disc of the pc version, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. What a shame.

I remember playing this game on the PS2, such a blast. Genuinely need to see a resurgence especially with the release of "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" on Disney+ matched the exact same vibes and tone of this game.

This game brings back so many memories, from swinging and chilling to beat Human Torch on a race and the epicness of the fights and story was really peak. I spent hours and hours just swinging and going to the top building of NY and just standing there watching... And the Venom missions were something really bold, like a f-ing force of nature at your disposal. Playing it again would be having again one of the best gaming experiences of my childhood.
