Transylvania

Transylvania is a casual game that blends horror and adventure elements. Players take on the role of Alex, a student embarking on a wondrous adventure while working abroad. Starting as a receptionist in a remote area, you'll face a constant stream of strange people and demanding customers. Different choices will drive the plot forward; will you win over the customers or become embroiled in dangerous events and supernatural conspiracies? As the game progresses, you'll build bonds with different characters and trigger corresponding events. Will you succumb to darkness or find love? Unlock various thrilling animations—it's all up to your choices.

Changelog:

In the previous post I've mentioned catching up on the backlog, and now it's finally time to show you some of the cool things we've been working on! This patch brings you not 1, not 2, but 3 juicy packages to sink your teeth into, with complex animated scenes and new choices and options.

So let's get right into it:

Ruxandra - out with the old, in with the older This one has been cooking for a while, and now finally it's coming together and ready to be shown. The old version of Ruxandra had room for improvement in terms of evil tree entities, so we've redesigned her with a lot more flavor and a lot more options for interactions. Dealing with her challenges will now bring you to updated scenes with an update character direction and a lot more content!

Elise - Epilogue This is 1 of 3 scenes we have update for the epilogue, bringing entirely new illustrations and animations and expanded content with our beloved queen. I'm sure for all of you Elise fans out there you will have something new to discover and enjoy.

The Guest from the Forest - Hotel encounter The previous update brough this new branch into the game, and now we've added some more flavors and animations into it, and some improvements to the scenes.

We still have a lot more scenes on the backburner that we are catching up on, so we'll see you next patch with more of what's been cooking ;)

Player Comments of Transylvania:

Played through this a few months ago, and was pleasantly surprised by the game's depth. The story, artwork, and chosen supernatural elements blend together to paint a believable atmosphere that you'd expect for a game called Transylvania.

Mild spoilers for the plot (which you learn pretty early on):

The plot itself is interesting, splitting each of the three chapters into consecutive days, with the catch being that the protagonist is stuck in a time loop and cannot progress to the next chapter until they successfully avoid dying one of many gruesome (and erotic) deaths. It creates a fair bit of tension in the storyline, especially as the stakes get higher (pun intended) in the following two days.

The game also has a surprising amount of choice with regard to some content options and character interactions. While the first chapter maintains a broad approach in not forcing you to pick a story/character path, you do eventually have to start making some tough decisions, which have consequences on the entire storyline. I also learned recently that the game's multiple content paths also lead to exclusive content for that path, so there's a real incentive to reload the checkpoint save and explore what other shenanigans can happen after your first completed run.

Plot aside, the game naturally has a variety of erotic content, some of which you can opt out of if it's not your thing. Generally speaking, there's your typical erotic content involving various monsters and fetishes, your more extreme content involving some supernatural element or other, and some bad ending-style content. I'm being purposefully vague here, as part of the enjoyment of playing the game blind came from not knowing what supernatural shenanigans will occur as I progressed. While some of it is obvious cause-and-effect, the game's cast of characters are quite diverse in what they prefer, and leads to more character growth/depth as you interact with them.

There's also a helpful in-game achievement function that helps you track the number of sexual encounters/questlines you can get involved with in each chapter. The game is still being actively worked on, but I found it was a reliable tracker for Chapter 1 and 2 in terms of erotic content.

Finally, I thought both the artwork and the writing were superb, with the former being appropriately macabre/grotesque/creepy to fit the game's theming/setting. There's also a variety of scenes in terms of content, and nothing stood out to me as being cringe. Okay that's a lie. Some of the more extreme content scenes had me questioning my life choices, but even if I was partly cringing at the fetish in question, those scenes were still written seriously and competently. And because there's such a wide range of content in the game, none of the scenes feel repetitive (like how some games will fall into a familiarity trap in writing more of the same kink because it's easy).

To succinctly quote Gilbert Gottfried: "Holy fuck is this wrong, but holy hell is it erotic."

I think that just about covers everything. I still need to check out the other storyline routes in the future, but I have the utmost confidence that any unseen/future content will match the level of quality already present in the game.
