Review

After playing Watch Dogs 1, I immediately played Watch Dogs 2, so here's my full review of Watch Dogs 2 and a comparison with its predecessor.

This is the review from a player who has completed all main and side missions.

The story and motivations are explained better, and it's clearer what the enemies gain from the protagonist's failures. I really enjoyed the ability to control drones and mini-cars for hacking, and I also liked the ability to frame others, such as having gang members attack specific NPCs or having the police arrest NPCs of your choice—features not present in previous versions. I didn't like Watch Dogs 2's profile mode; I preferred Watch Dogs 1's. I disliked having to go to specific car dealerships to buy specific vehicles, and I disliked the fact that you can only use three weapons, one of which is fixed, meaning you can't change weapons. In Watch Dogs 1, I could carry all weapons, allowing me to choose my mission style, whether stealth or direct confrontation. In Watch Dogs 2, I can only carry three weapons, and if I want to change weapons, I have to return to the hideout. There's a 30-second lockout between the hideout and the open world, meaning there are no gun shops to refill ammo or change weapons, forcing me to return to the hideout every time. The number of silenced weapons is also pitifully small; I much preferred the weapons in Watch Dogs 1. There's a rule in the game that unlocking new skills requires skill points, which can be obtained by recruiting followers or leveling up. However, after reaching a certain level, you can no longer gain skill points; the only way is to search for hidden locations all over the map. Can you imagine how annoying it is to have to run all over the place just to find a skill point? I hate certain skills, like "Darkness Descends," which are almost ineffective against enemies. Also, we used to be able to hack other people's accounts for money; in Watch Dogs 1, you could earn up to 10,000, but in Watch Dogs 2, you can only earn a maximum of 500, which is ridiculous.

Overall, I quite liked the game, but I would have liked it even more if some of the gameplay mechanics from WD1 had been carried over to WD2.
