Crown of the Devil combines dark storylines, card gameplay, and roguelike elements. You will become a king who has made a pact with a demon and embark on a journey to defeat queens of various races. Along the way, you will encounter a variety of choices, moving your core character cards towards different branches. Will you face battle or hidden treasures, adding to the game's intrigue? After defeating the queens, players can not only learn about their backstories and personalities but also add them to their harem, unlocking various alluring animated scenes and enjoying their loot.

Each run is unique, as you build your deck "on the fly" by acquiring new cards after encounters, seeking powerful synergies and combos to survive the ever-changing challenges.

The core loop involves turn-based combat where you manage a limited resource, akin to mana, to play cards from your hand each turn. You'll face enemies with predictable but deadly patterns, requiring you to learn their attack telegraphs and devise counter-strategies, much like mastering a difficult boss's moveset. With this release, we've also updated our version naming to better reflect the game's development. Public releases will now use the same version numbering as the main project, making it easier to follow future updates.

This public version now reflects the game's current direction, bringing many of the core systems introduced during development. Think of it as a demonstration of what Crown Of The Devil has become.

The concept is cool, the roguelike tag is a bit loose here, but yeah, there are a bunch of levels and you've got to manage your HP accordingly and choose the correct path to finish them. After each level you get a small conversation with a queen and then jump to the next level. Do this for 10-20 times and you corrupt the queen fully and win.Buuut, I just dont see this gameplay staying neither fresh nor fun for more than 30 minutes at most. Once you corrupt the first queen, you've pretty much seen all the game has to offer, and rest is just do the same thing for a different queen. Right now there are only a few queens for the public version, but I can see this becoming a huge slog as more are added.The VN "storytelling" is 2-3 lines in between every level some repeating as padding. But I guess it doesnt really need it that much.There is just not enough sauce here to keep you glued.

Fun little proof of concept! The game runs great! Some quick feedback:Engaging gameplay, but the "scenes" are too short. Giving us only 1 frame of 1 part of a dialogue doesn't work great for a porn game.Include a slider for text speed in the settings. It's WAYYY too slow as is. Or make it possible to click and have the text show up at once.I'm assuming there will be something to do with the pink diamonds eventually, but not sure where those will go, since there aren't really "skills" so to speak or anything else?Dragging onto a tile is fairly cumbersome. I recommend switching it to just clicking.More variety of skills would be nice, but more importantly make it so a skill that's already been selected doesn't appear again. Eg: I already had the "heal all health at the beginning of a round" skill, so it shouldn't show up again.Speaking of skills, minor bug, health doesn't restore if you lose and have to start over from a checkpoint.

With only 1 Queen available publicly. There is very little content. With an ending pregnancy at the end of the queen's defeat. The gameplay is solid with some quirks that I'm not sure are intentional but hey! I'm also not sure at all what the pink diamonds are for? It says it's a roguelike and I assume they're a currency for that. I'm giving it 3 of 5 stars due to lack of content and variation. I'd comment on the 2nd queen but as I'm not a patreon member and the 2nd queen is locked behind patreon, I am unsure if they are different in any way.
