Every one of the 25 dungeons in the games has unique mechanics. Along with the combat sections, there also social simulation segments too, where Luisa can befriend the villagers of Hinterberg, which can lead to perks that give her advantages in battle.

Become Besties: Hannah may be the most consequential friend you make in Hinterberg. Hannah could possibly be the most beneficial character to max out companionship within Dungeons of Hinterberg. She runs an armory out of her house and will imbue both your armor and weapons with items that will increase your power. Hannah upgrades armor to stronger levels and adds enchantments to weapons.

Befriend the dog: Not only can you choose the name of your goodest boi, he will uncover secret dungeons for you and will also dig up buried treasure when you run into him out in the wilds.

You can slide down ladders: Admittedly, it took me way too long to figure out that I could slide down ladders, and there are a ton of ladders. Hold down the climb button to slide.

Explore side paths: There are side paths in both the open world sections of the game and within dungeons themselves that will contain chests. Chests can give players the in-game currency, weapons and armor, or collectibles. Some of the dungeons are fast paced or can be easy to get turned around in so be sure to explore as much as possible if you are going for all achievements.

Escapism in video games is a theme that is often explored, but rarely executed this well. That was my first impression, and it hooked me from the very beginning.The gameplay stays fresh throughout the game. Each dungeon introduces different mechanics, and every region offers its own unique approach to exploration and puzle solving, making it consistently engaging.I personally enjoyed the art style, which also helps giving the game a unique identity. (Even though some scenes can appear slightly blurry when standing still)As an added bonus, the game's fictional village is located on one of my favorite real-world travel destinations, just as a plus :)

Absolutely loved this. The puzzles and level design are exceptional, the combat is fun, the downtime activities tie back into gameplay in interesting ways, the main story is really cool, the sound design in great, and the visuals are lovely. Just a very creative game that always had me itching for just a little more. My one major nag is that the individual character stories were fairly boring, I wish your dialogue choises mattered, because without any real input it's just these characters saying a lot and communicating very little. But the clunky dialogue might be a translation issue and the fast forward button is always available. (LOVE that it's a fast forward, not a skip.) Wonderful game, and I was delighted to see it leaning on Austrian folklore, it's very unique!

I really loved this game. I'm the kind of person who will buy a game and then never beat it because I'm notoriously bad at locking in, but I played this game start to finish and I want to 100% it. The art style is very unique compared to other games I've played and the hovering snowboard is a lot of fun to me. I loved the different abilities and that you didn't have to stick to one area at a time, instead you could do low level dungeons in any area which made it a lot more exciting to play because you didn't get stuck with any one ability. The puzzles were super fun and not too tricky for the most part. I personally really liked getting to know the townspeople and giving gifts along with exchanging trash or monster parts for perks. The only thing I would critique is that some of the animations are clunky, especially kayaking. Overall I highly recommend Dungeons of Hinterberg!
