Rocket League: Sideswipe combines racing and sports elements, where players control vehicles with varying performance capabilities, dodging opponents' defenses and successfully shooting the ball into the goal to score. Winning matches increases your ranking and allows you to compete against players worldwide. While the game controls are simple, mastering them is challenging. It offers both casual and competitive modes, allowing players to invite friends to play together and hone their skills, or directly compete against players globally. The game regularly rotates through seasons, with each season update introducing new stadiums and seasonal events, bringing players more fresh gameplay and fun.

Gameplay:

Rocket League: Sideswipe typically has the same type of gameplay as its console version, in which players must move their cars to hit the ball into the opponent's goal. If both teams are tied at the 0-second mark (at this point, the game won't end unless the ball hits the ground or a goal is scored), the game will enter a sudden death phase in which the first team to score wins. The only key difference between the console version of Rocket League: Sideswipe and Sideswipe is the absence of 3D computer graphics. The game has multiple single-player and multiplayer modes, including game modes that revolve around sports other than soccer, such as basketball, squash and volleyball.

The game has casual playlists and competitive (known as Ranked) playlists in which players are given a rank during the game's competitive "season". They will rank up a sub-division by winning and will rank down a sub-division by losing. The ranks, from highest to lowest are Grand Champion (in which players cannot demote out of), Champion, Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Unranked, which is when the player has never played the game before or on a new account.

At the end of the season (which typically lasts 55 days), players will receive rewards based on whether they won a match in their peak rank or not. Players can also go up two sub-divisions in one match until they reach Platinum. Bronze and Silver have three sub-divisions per division, Gold and Platinum have four, and Diamond and Champion have five. Grand Champion does not use sub-divisions, instead using a Matchmaking Ratio (MMR) system that will record a player's place on the Grand Champion leaderboards.

Strategies:

Critical shot (pink/blue shot): flip and make contact with your nose. Basically just gets the most power out of a traditional shot.

Purple shot: use a non directional double jump with the bottom of your car facing the ball. This also shoots your car backwards.

Gold shot: flip and make contact with rear end of your car

There is more friction on your car than in rocket league. You will slow down much quicker after moving even after boosting. This is not the case with the ball.

There is also air resistance unlike rocket league which slows you're movement in the air and affects the ball movement especially when spinning.

Flips In sideswipe you can essentially only perform a front flip or a backflip.

You will get a flip reset anytime you land on a surface including the ball. When getting a flip reset on the ball your car will flash white. Flip resets also refill your boost (at least 25% or so)

In rocket league after you jump you have a timer for when you can use your flip. In sideswipe the timer is infinite so you can delay your flip as long as you want.

The most important thing for aerials is that there is a hidden setting in control configurations where you can add a jump and boost button. This is essentially a fast aerial button and will really help your speed of play.

There is directional influence in the air where your car moves slightly depending on where you point the joystick. The most useful case for this is holding down while in the air to get to the ground much quicker even with no boost.

When using your double jump holding down the button longer before the double jumo results in a higher jump just like in rocket league. You can get almost 4x the height with this.

You can air roll by double tapping the the joystick. This helps you to set up flip resets or purples shots sometimes, and also will allow for more controlled touches while air dribbling.

There is not really a speed limit to how fast you can flip your car around with the stick like in rocket league. This can allow for pseudo flicks if you don't have a flip.

Your inventory in Sideswipe is not shared with your Fortnite account; each game maintains a separate inventory. There are some items that are shared between Rocket League and Fortnite, but Rocket League Sideswipe items do not sync with them.

How do I talk to other players in Rocket League Sideswipe?

In Rocket League Sideswipe, you can use Party Chat if you are in a party with friends or other players. Quick Chat Stickers let you communicate with other players by tapping on the speech bubble on the right side while in-game. If you're using a controller, you can use the directional pad. 

To customize your Stickers: 

Launch Rocket League Sideswipe.

Tap your username in the top left corner.

Tap the pencil icon next to your username. 

Tap the Quickchat Stickers tab.

Tap the Sticker you want to replace in the left column.

Tap the Sticker that you want to use in the right column.

Return to the Main Menu to save changes.

To disable Quick Chat  

Tap the Gear Icon in the top right corner. 

Find Mute Quickchat.

Check the Mute Quickchat box to toggle on/off.
