Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection is a classic action fighting game that offers both story and arcade game modes. Players witness the protagonist's growth while battling powerful opponents. With 32 playable characters, each with unique skills and character designs, strategic character selection based on opponent type can give you an edge in combat. The game also supports multiplayer mode, allowing you to invite friends or match with players worldwide for exhilarating battles. A detailed tutorial and levels are provided for five players, helping players master the different button controls and better enjoy the game.
Ranks: Along with the many additions to the PlayStation 2 port, the Arcade Mode has been upgraded by adding twelve more ranking titles and removing one: Conqueror. Tekken Lord is no longer the highest ranking as it was in Tekken 5. Dark Lord is one ranking above Tekken Lord, and the highest ranking is now Divine Fist.Divine Fist is only achieved by successfully completing all of the league matches, survival tournaments, and ranking tournaments in Tekken Dojo mode. The opportunity is offered once a promotion chance is offered sometime in the Heaven Dojo, the sixth stage in Tekken Dojo mode. It is only offered when the player is ranked as a Dark Lord. In the European PlayStation Portable version, the player's current character will be promoted from Dark Lord to Divine Fist once they have completed all dojos, including the challenges, and then wins the Heaven Dojo ranking tournament once again.
Statistics: Another addition to Arcade Mode is that it now keeps track of the player's statistics. Each character has a clean slate once they begin playing Arcade Mode. During character selection, loading a match and battling an opponent, the player can see their alias, ranking, what region they hail from, their wins, losses, and overall win/loss percentage.
Customization: Dark Resurrection provided more tools for the players to Customize their characters. The default colors for most of the characters were also different from the original version of the game, despite the characters being shown in most of the FMVs and artwork of the PlayStation Portable version in their original colors. For example, Paul's red judo gi and Kuma's fur both became white, Jin's gauntlets, leg guards, and the flames on his pants became red, and Jinpachi's final boss look now appeared to be bursting into flames. None of these changes were absolute, as the player could at anytime customize the characters back to their original colors, with the exception of Jinpachi who is not playable in the PlayStation Portable version (Not counting cheat codes). Mokujin can now also be customized.
Modes: Tekken Dojo is a new mode in the PlayStation Portable version. The player picks a character and battles a variety of Ghost characters in ranked battles. Doing well in League Tournaments improves the player's rank. After becoming the number one fighter in a single dojo, the player will acquire access to the next dojo. The difficulty increases the further the player progresses into the island. Also in the PlayStation Portable version, Tekken Bowl Tournament returns, now only referred to as Tekken Bowl.

Large roster and character customization: Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection offers 32 selectable characters, including seven new fighters. You can equip accessories such as clothing and other cosmetic items using in-game currency to personalize each fighter.
Difficulty Levels: Developers understand that not all players are professionals. So, they have made different difficulty levels. You can choose from Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard, and Ultra Hard Level.
AutoSave Feature: There is an Auto Save feature available in the game. Enabling this feature will make your game automatically save your game progress. So, you can start from the same level where you left off in case of a break.
Modes for varied play: Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection includes Story Battle and Arcade Battle for classic progression or quick bouts. Tekken Dojo lets you move through a series of opponents in succession. The home release content known as Devil Within, a variant of Tekken Force, is included. A network option also appears in the game menu.
Familiar controls and learning support: Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection uses controls that resemble the console layout and are adapted for touch input. A tutorial helps you learn basic moves and button placement when you start. You can set difficulty from Easy to Normal and adjust as your command of the controls improves.

Though it's probably impossible to get a proper online fighting experience Dark Resurrection comes about as close as we can hope for -- and it's completely portable. Few games are this uncompromising, and every PSP owner needs this game. Yep, all of em.
My introduction to the Tekken series, Dark Resurrection was a game I transitioned to fairly easily, given my past with Soul Calibur. While Dark Resurrection might not look as good as the console version, it is still a visually amazing PSP game, with solid combat. The combat is as tight and responsive as previous, and future installments, and the customization adds a lot of personality to the game. A must buy for Tekken fans on the go.
Another fantastic Tekken spinoff this time for the Playstation Portable. This is an upgraded version of Tekken 5 with more added content and a few changes.-Fighters were given new moves and damage balancing was updated to make the game more fair.-It improved on the customization system.-We get two new characters to the series: Sergei Dragunov, a Russian agent who specializes in Russian Martial Arts and a French aristocratic girl called Lili who lives with her grandfather Sebastian. Armor King also makes his return to the series since Tag Tournament.-New remixed stages with remixed music were created instead of using the Tekken 5 stages although we get the Streets, Ground Zero and Final Frontier stages.-We get a bonus game mode with mini games for players to earn gold for the customization mode and a dojo mode to prove you are the greatest Tekken player.-You could listen to the game's soundtrack and watch the endings when you beat Story Mode like Tekken 5 as well.
If there was a way to make the Tekken series better I certainly don't know what it is. It’s like somebody took all the previous Tekken games and put them in a blender then filtered out the bad stuff and out pops Tekken: Dark Resurrection.

How do I unlock Jinpachi or the old Tekken 5.0 stages?
Jinpachi can be unlocked by completing Arcade Mode once with any character. The old Tekken 5.0 stages can be unlocked by completing Arcade Mode three times with any character (although it may need to be three separate characters across each run).Arcade Mode can be completed easily by setting the game's difficulty to Easy and the round count to 1 under Settings. This helps to meet both unlock requirements faster. Note that Jinpachi can only be selected in the PlayStation 3 version (not the original arcade or PSP versions), and that he cannot be played in Online Mode.
What are the gameplay differences between 5.0 and DR?
As far as gameplay goes, Tekken 5 underwent several changes throughout versions, including both system-wide and character-specific changes. While many characters were adjusted in different ways, their core gameplay and gameplans remain very similar between versions (making guides and footage for Tekken 5.0 still mostly applicable to DR).5.0 only received one gameplay patch overall (called Tekken 5.1), which had several balance changes for the system overall, as well as specific changes to Steve and Nina in particular.
Who are some easy characters to start with?
Compared to later Tekken titles, there are fewer moves per character, and no character-specific resources etc., so learning each character is less of a task overall, so there's no bad place to start.
Tier lists? Who are the strongest/weakest characters?
Tier lists can be found from several different sources, with the general strength of most characters being more or less agreed upon. However, any character can be used to a strong degree, and tier lists shouldn't be the sole decision-factor in who to play.
How do ranks work? How many ranks are there?
Online netplay and offline both track points regarding rank. You gain and lose points with each win or loss respectively. There are 35 ranks, starting from Beginner and the early Kyu's up until the highest ranks of Tekken Lord and Dark Lord.
In summary, Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection is a standout title in the fighting game genre. Its gameplay, graphics, and soundtrack are a testament to the series' enduring quality. While it has its challenges and minor issues, its enduring appeal and dedication to satisfying combat make it a must-play for fans of the genre.
