Dead Effect 2
Introduction

In Dead Effect 2, players are on a spaceship with hordes of zombies. You'll need to explore the ship and stay constantly vigilant, using your weapons to blast away the oncoming zombies. Players can enhance their combat abilities with various implants and new weapons; each implant and piece of equipment has unique advantages and disadvantages, and different combinations bring more possibilities to the game. The game supports gamepad controls, and after adjusting the button layout, you'll enjoy a comfortable gaming experience.

Modes of Dead Effect 2:

Dead Effect 2 suits players who like sci-fi themes, single-player shooters, and gradual character growth. It works best for users looking for a serious mobile game that can be played in longer sessions rather than quick breaks. After progressing through the story, special missions add objectives and formats different from the campaign. This content also serves to experiment with configurations, practice movement, and evaluate equipment performance.

Additional Challenges: Special missions extend playtime beyond the campaign and present situations that demand different responses than those used in narrative objectives.

Biohazard Mode: This format focuses on the biological threat, requiring careful positioning and ammunition management to get through encounters with less waste.

Survive Mode: Survival demands sustained endurance, so prioritize nearby targets, maintain a retreat route, and avoid getting trapped in ded ends.

Lone Wolf Mode: Individual focus reduces the margin for error, making the choice of defensive implants and the management of abilities especially important during the mission.

Infestation Mode: The presence of large groups favors weapons with rapid response and control abilities, especially when enemies occupy different angles of the scenario.

Features of Dead Effect 2:

Long campaign on the ESS Meridian: Dead Effect 2 delivers a lengthy story campaign that takes place across the ESS Meridian. You advance from sector to sector, deal with security systems, and face different enemy mixes as the chapters unfold. After the main arc, special missions provide extra objectives and fresh scenarios to extend playtime.

RPG progression with three personas: You begin by choosing from three distinct characters, each offering a different approach to combat. As you play, you train skills and equip implants and gear sets to shape your build. With more than one hundred implants and sets available, there is room to adjust your loadout to match different mission demands.

Growing arsenal with upgrades: The game offers more than forty weapons that can be upgraded over time. You collect parts and credits, then improve damage, handling, and other stats to keep pace with stronger foes. As enemies escalate, your arsenal expands so you can swap tools based on mission goals and enemy types.

Flexible controls and full controller support: Dead Effect 2 lets you tailor the control layout to your needs with adjustable on screen inputs, sensitivity, and placement. Full controller support is included, so Bluetooth and wired gamepads can be used for a PC like feel on mobile. You can remap buttons and fine tune settings to keep aiming and movement consistent across missions.

Console quality presentation and audio: The presentation focuses on detailed environments, lighting, and creature effects for a console quality feel. Professional voice acting supports the story, while an atmospheric soundtrack sets the tone during combat and exploration. On supported NVIDIA SHIELD devices, features such as HDR, high quality textures, and extra effects are available for a visual boost.

Useful Tips of Dead Effect 2:

Which Character Should You Choose: There are different classes in this game, and each comes with their own pros and cons. At the end of the day, it will be all up to you, though you’d probably want to begin with weapons expert Gunnar Davis. Assault ops officer Jane Frey is also a good choice for beginners. As for close contact fighter Kay Rayner, you may want to select her once you’re more familiar with the game, as she is substantially more difficult to use than the other two.Make sure that you properly leverage the skills of your character, regardless of whom you choose. For example, make good use of Gunnar’s shockwave attack if possible, but feel free to try out his other attacks, especially in the earlier goings when you can still play around and see what works best.

Look Downwards When Aiming: When aiming your weapon in Dead Effect 2, it’s best to focus your sights downwards. That way, you have a better view of the screen and could, quite ironically, better see what’s ahead of you. This all points to better accuracy when firing at the enemy.

Avoid Auto-Fire: The game also allows you to use the auto-fire feature. Sounds like a great way to keep you from doing much and to allow you to focus on other things, but it actually isn’t. Like many other mobile games (or video games, for that matter), the auto option here relies on very simplistic AI. Turn off the auto-fire feature in the settings and do all the aiming and firing yourself; you’ll only end up frustrating yourself if you insist on auto-fire.

Choose Your Rewards Wisely: Another interesting feature in the game is the ability to choose your rewards after successfully completing a mission. That means you can choose if you want additional ammo, or go for additional health or energy instead. You can also choose to give your abilities a boost. So which would you choose? It would all depend on what your needs are at that time, so choose those rewards wisely and carefully.

Player Comments of Dead Effect 2:

Huge upgrade compared to the previous series' installment, with brand new dissapointments!

First -- the good. Combat is fluid and satisfying. Player progression is real. Sprint actually works. The game adopted a looter-shooter-ish mechanic of obtaining new gear, which is not bad at all with the chosen multipliers -- even freshly-dropped weapons are all usable, and upgrading them to max is uncostly. You can also easily pick brand new weapon or armor in between each mission with how lucrative the earnings are. And about weapons -- we've gotten melee! Dual wielding! All the standard game stuff has arrived! Level design has also gotten MUCH better and I haven't met the deadlock problem anymore. Skill trees with varied options are a very welcome addition. The ship's environments are also a bit more varied now. Overally, it's a nicely done and pleasing, even if not special by any means, shooter with zombies aboard a spaceship.

The plot... oh girl, the plot. It goes fine, and then it's cut. Abruptly. In the middle of a sentence. And you're presented with "Purchase DLC to continue" screen. It's not a classic example of "get fake ending with basegame and real ending with the DLC". No no no, that'd be relatively pretty. It's a "so there's no ending at all for you, give us 5€ to continue the plot". So I did what I shouldn't have done -- bought the DLC, and as much as I was expecting another cliffhanger, the plot was actually finished. Uff. The DLC itself seems to have been created as an afterthought after development of the third game was gutted, so while this is kind of an excuse, then... my dear Andraste, who releases a game without ANY ENDING and leaves it like that for four years? Anyways.

There is a lot of post-game activies where you can just shoot zombies mindlessly on the same levels that were used for campaign, which easily doubled the amount of hours I spent in this game. ~10 hours for main plot, ~15 hours for maxing most of the stuff + 90% achievement progress -- unfortunately there are two achievements that are the kind of "hey deary, please play the game for another dozen hours, thank you" that I'd pass on.

As bittersweet as the DLC wall made me feel, I'd still give this a recommendation, cause I had twenty-few hours of pleasant gameplay.

Final words:

Dead Effect 2 suits players who like sci-fi themes, single-player shooters, and gradual character growth. It works best for users looking for a serious mobile game that can be played in longer sessions rather than quick breaks.
