Our two main characters are Casio along with his older sister Nestia. There was an epic war many years ago where the Allied Races which were the humans took on the Monster Army, their parents were killed, but all was not lost. You see a former Valkyrie called Lady Eleonora took pity on them and decided to bring them to her manor where they can work as a butler and a maid. 10 years go past and things start to change!

One of the best things about Henteria Chronicles Chapter 1 is the way that the story unfolds. Before I played it my friend told me that he felt it was an NTR style game where we play as a cuck, but the way I played it, the story did not feel 100 percent like that. Ok, so the “hero” sees his girl get banged, but there is more depth here than usual. The game is very character driven and I think that because of this you can have it go in a direction more of your liking or even just take the story in a different way. I was very impressed with the writing here and did think the ending was pulled off very well.

Have you ever played a lewd RPG before? Well, congratulations as you will feel right at home with Henteria Chronicles Chapter 1. This is a very simple kind of game as it gives you a walkthrough that basically keeps you on track for the whole of the game. Could you play it without this? Yes, you probably could, but there would be a lot of wandering around. The game has most quests being going from point a to point b, but as there is a run button, getting around is very easy. There is a corruption system here, but there is no tedious grinding that you find with other lewd RPGs. It is the kind of game that is simple, but fun to play and I liked that.

The lewd pixel art in Henteria Chronicles Chapter 1 is something that I got a real kick out of! It is not the kind of thing that is ever going to get you off, but you can still appreciate how well done it is. The cheeky animations are fun to watch and while I am not a fan of it, the internal camera, which is still done with pixel art is sure to be something many people love. With the whole fantasy vibe of the game, I get some major early Final Fantasy vibes from the way that this game looks and I mean that in a very positive way!

Final words:

This game is mainly about unavoidable NTR. I know this tends to rub a lot of people the wrong way and I can completely understand, I used to be the same. However, the particularity of the game plays on the fact that the MC acts a bit like Link: no dialogue, onomatopeia and bubble icons. Also, the player has little control over how the game plays (name are already set, for example). I know this sounds counterproductive from a developer perspective, but the lack of personality of the MC as well as the way the story is told allows more freedom for players on how they want to picture themselves into the game: do they want to stay on a MC perspective ? Would they rather picture themselves as an uninvolved third party ? Or as the bad guy ? It’s all up to the player’s imagination. This might very well soften the NTR elements if you don’t picture yourself as the MC who’s being NTR’ed.Besides, there will be no MC shaming, he will be pictured as oblivious to NTR the whole game, and there will be a choice between 2 endings, with a non-NTR one.
