Meu INSS is a lifestyle application designed for individuals approaching retirement. Users can apply for various benefits and pension services, track the status of their requests, initiate the retirement application process, and calculate the time remaining until their retirement. Beyond these core features, the app allows users to manage income tax and benefit-related payments, receive disbursements, and view detailed financial statements. It also simplifies the process of scheduling medical check-ups at nearby healthcare facilities. Furthermore, the app includes an integrated map feature to help users locate the nearest INSS office for in-person services, thereby enhancing overall efficiency.
Requesting and tracking applications: The "Meu INSS" platform allows you to apply for INSS-related benefits and services directly from your mobile phone. Once an application is submitted, you can track its progress within the app, viewing the various stages and checking for any outstanding requirements. This enables users to monitor the process without needing an initial in-person visit to an INSS branch.
Retirement and contribution periods: "Meu INSS" also assists those planning for retirement. The app allows you to apply for retirement and view calculations regarding the time remaining, based on your recorded social security information. This provides a clearer overview of your work history, contributions, and the data used to evaluate your benefit eligibility.
Issuing social security statements: You can generate important documents through "Meu INSS," such as income tax statements, benefit payment records, CNIS (National Registry of Social Information) contribution statements, and details regarding payroll-deducted loans. These documents are often required for verifying amounts, managing personal finances, or providing information for other administrative procedures. Available services include generating a CNIS contribution statement and a benefit information statement.
Medical evaluations and official declarations: "Meu INSS" provides access to scheduling medical evaluations whenever a requested service requires such an assessment. Furthermore, users can request official declarations confirming the receipt of benefits. This feature helps users stay on top of requirements for social security applications and ensures that important documents remain easily accessible on their mobile devices.

It has everything I need; however, it would be very helpful if, whenever the INSS (National Social Security Institute) reaches out via the app, they also sent an email notification. There have been times when I didn’t log in for a few days, only to discover a message with a deadline for a response once I finally checked.
The service is excellent! There’s no need to visit an INSS branch for retirement simulations or to submit applications. Plus, you can easily track your contributions and the status of your requests.
The website is highly reliable, and the telephone support ensures the confidentiality and security of our information—I’m very grateful!
It’s a great app, but it could include biometric authentication—leveraging what’s already set up on the phone—so users wouldn’t have to type in their passwords manually every time. When will biometric authentication be added? That would save us from having to authenticate repeatedly.
The app is essential for managing social security data, but it’s quite unstable. Just today, I logged in successfully, but the main screen appeared completely blank. The app is in constant need of refinement and updates.

Who falls under the "individual contributor" category?
This includes self-employed individuals and those who provide occasional services to companies without an employment contract. Examples of individual contributors include, among others: clergy members; company directors who receive remuneration for their work in urban or rural enterprises; paid building managers; taxi drivers; street vendors; day laborers (domestic or otherwise); painters; electricians; and members of labor cooperatives.
Who falls under the "optional insured" category?
Individuals over the age of 16 who do not have their own income but choose to contribute to the Social Security system. Examples include: homemakers; students; unpaid building managers; the unemployed; incarcerated individuals who do not receive remuneration; and scholarship recipients.
Who falls under the "domestic worker" category?
A worker who provides services in the home of another person or family, provided that such activity is not for the employer's profit. This category includes roles such as housekeepers, gardeners, private drivers, caretakers, and domestic help.
Who falls under the "special insured" category?
This category consists of rural workers who operate under a family-based economic model, without the use of hired (salaried) labor. It includes spouses, partners, and children over the age of 16 who work alongside the family in rural activities. Also included are artisanal fishers and Indigenous individuals engaged in rural activities, along with their family members (i.e., individual rural producers who do not employ others).
What is a "special retirement" (aposentadoria especial)?
A benefit granted to an insured individual who has worked under conditions that are harmful to their health or physical integrity. To qualify for a special retirement pension, a worker must provide proof—in addition to the length of employment—of actual exposure to harmful chemical, physical, or biological agents (or a combination thereof) for the duration required to be granted the benefit (15, 20, or 25 years). This special retirement pension is available to employees, casual workers, and individual contributors (the latter only if they are members of a labor or production cooperative). Furthermore, the exposure to harmful agents must have been permanent—not merely occasional or intermittent. A "qualifying period" must also be met, which refers to the minimum number of monthly contributions required for an insured individual to be entitled to the benefit. Those who registered on or after July 25, 1991, must have at least 180 monthly contributions. Those who registered before that date must follow a progressive scale. Under Law No. 10.666/2003, the loss of "insured status" does not preclude the granting of a special retirement pension. Proof of exposure to harmful agents is provided via a form known as the Social Security Professional Profile (Perfil Profissiográfico Previdenciário – PPP), which is completed by the company (or its representative) based on a Technical Report on Environmental Working Conditions (Laudo Técnico de Condições Ambientais de Trabalho – LTCAT), issued by an occupational physician or an occupational safety engineer.
What is an age-based retirement pension?
This is a benefit granted to a Social Security-insured individual who reaches an age considered a "social risk." It is available to urban workers—men aged 65 or older and women aged 60 or older. Rural workers may apply for an age-based retirement pension five years earlier: men from age 60 and women from age 55. To claim the benefit, urban workers who enrolled in the Social Security system on or after July 25, 1991, must provide proof of 180 monthly contributions. Rural workers must provide documentation proving 180 months of rural activity. For urban insured individuals who enrolled on or before July 24, 1991, the required number of contributions depends on the year in which they met the eligibility requirements for the benefit. In the case of rural workers, the individual must be engaged in rural activity either on the date the application is filed or on the date they met all the necessary requirements for the benefit—namely, the minimum age and the qualifying period (carência). Note: A rural worker (whether an employee or an individual contributor)—classified as a mandatory insured person under the General Social Security Regime (RGPS)—could apply for an age-based retirement pension, in the amount of one minimum wage, up until December 31, 2010, provided they could prove they had actually performed rural activity (even if intermittently) for a number of months equal to the required qualifying period. For "special insured" individuals (segurados especiais), there is no such date limit.
Therefore, if you live in Brazil and are of working age, downloading the "Meu INSS" app will be highly useful for managing all the formal requirements related to employment and social security in the country.
