A Game With Bugs!

I got a real kick out of how Hachina was set in ancient Japan. In this ancient Japan though, the small villages that are just trying to live their lives in peace are in danger. They are in danger from these horny bugs that pose a major threat to their way of life! Our heroine though is a medicine woman who looks out for these villages and it just so happens that as well as being a woman of medicine, she is a real badass too and very handy with stabbing weapons so she is going to try and fight and kill as many of these bugs as she can.

Slash Me Baby!

The thing I enjoyed the most about Hachina was the gameplay! I think that the developer has really nailed this style of game. It moves at a quick pace as you move from left to right, slashing away at any enemies that get in your way. The way you are always running forward and there is what feels like a never ending run of enemies coming at you is exciting! I loved slashing away at the enemies and had a blast doing so. You start to get really good quite quickly too and there are some status effects and more challenging enemies so there is more depth here than you may think.

How Short Is Too Short?

I have read some other people say that they do not like how Hachina is shorter than some of the other games that this developer has made. It took me around four hours to beat the game and I played it over two sessions. I had a great time with it and I have to say that had the game run even an hour longer, the gameplay may have started to wear a little bit thin if I am being brutally honest. I feel that the developer did the right thing here and if it does leave you wanting more, you could always run through it again.

Substance Over Style

When it comes to the visuals of Hachina they are a bit of a mixed bag for me. Our heroine is easy enough on the eyes and I like how there is a decent amount of variety to the enemies and the locations that you find yourself in. However, the lewd content is not something that clicked with me. I hate bugs as it is, but even when we have just the chicks, the quality here is not the best. It is not bad at all, but it is also not something that blew me away. Again, had the game been longer, I think that this may have been something that could have bothered me.

• Corrected an issue where the naginata would be temporarily hidden when waving it after the Youkai Robe event.

• Corrected an issue where the mesh of the bound body would disappear when releasing the demon’s robe while bound.

• Fixed an issue where the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen would not disappear at the start of the battle with the boss Furandoji (changed the process to a timed system to reduce the occurrence of the issue)

• Fixed an issue where messages and options during hypnosis would not disappear if Yuragi was restrained by another enemy while in hypnosis walking state.
