In Soulcreek, players embark on a fantastic adventure with their husky, Loken. I don't play many VNs but holy shit I'm so glad I did with this. I expected something a lot more tame and campy "big wolf cuddles lone human" but fuck no. This story GOES! Don't you dare make this a cliff hanger. FUCK.
I'm refusing to read read the last installment fir this story. As soon as dad was gone i understood just how horror based the VN really is. It's an amazing read nonetheless, the talent is evident in both the writing and most of the sprites. Byte is by far and away my fave character, followed by Mylo. Was far too sad knowing how close to the end we are and he still isn't a runner. Which means he either dies or isn't given the proper send-off. It also means Alex, Byte and/or Loken die at the ending. Which would be on brand for a furry visual novel as the happy to bad ending ratio isn't even measurable it's so skewed. Why can't we just have Alex Byte Loken and Mylo beat glitch, kill all the demons, and attempt to rebuild Illayla into a more advanced society without the issues that destroyed the human one?!
Well, we know Alex, Byte and Loken have to die in the end. Or at least 2 of the 3 of them. Otherwise he would have to carry on the story after the big battle. My bet is Glitch jumps to Loken knowing Alex will not be able to kill Loken in order to stop him. He will control Loken like he did with him, use his love for Loken to grotesquely torture Alex in an attempt to break him. The best outcome of that scenario would be Lokens fucked up mind as Byte put it, would put a stop to that plan. His autistic mind would actually become an asset rather than a hindrance. This would weaken/distract Glitch long enough for Byte to destroy him inside Loken as he knows how fucked the Hounds mind is already. That would be the best outcome, Loken and Alex get to live, whether Byte survives or not. As we all know, these stories NEVER have a happy ending sadly.
