You will be hard pressed to find any game that can blend all these elements, let alone do it with as much flair, as indie mobile darling Icycle: On Thin Ice, which looks and plays fantastic on PC as well.Its game mechanic is about as simple as an 8-bit console cart: you guide Dennis, a paunchy, balding, naked dude on a tiny bicycle, through the mostly frozen remains of civilization in an attempt to find someone, ANYONE else. Dennis must avoid stalagmites, stalactites, avalanches, expanding ice crystals, sinkholes, debris, explosions and many other environmental hazards, many of which he more or less provoked. On the way, he collects ice cubes and items that he can use to dress himself somewhat or upgrade his ride.Like Half-Life 2 and Fortnite: Battle Royale, Icycle: On Thin Ice is another great example of environmental storytelling. Every background gives you a clue as to how the Earth went to sh** without hammering you with exposition. The 2D vector graphics by game designer Reece Millidge really pop on a big screen, highlighting the detail that went into every short but challenging level. The difficulty level is just hard enough to make it challenging yet not frustrating.

I played an old version of this game around 2014 - 2016 and a little later on an Australian website for ABC3 (now renamed ABCME). The website had a lot of very obscure video games from the most indie of indie game developers - a lot of them were Australian. Obviously a lot were also by foreign developers. Icycle is by Reece Millidge, an English developer from Brighton.It was very different. There were no challenges, umbrella or vacuum, things you could buy, dreams etc. It was several levels after which you would gain an extra item of clothing and play through the game again to get another. There was a gorilla at the end that would shoot you with a bubble gun. I swear there was a woman in one of those chamber things at the end, but I can't find any images or videos showing it. My sister also played this game, so i could ask her.This game is decent. I found it janky at times and often ledges were slightly out of jumping reach which was annoying. I love the vocal and environmental sounds, the animations and the art style - it looks cute.

played this game as a kid and recently got reminded of it and oh my God this game is even more beautiful as an adult, this game feels like playing inside an art piece, genuinely inspired me to keep drawing, this game is beautiful and deserves more praise for what it is, this game controls amazingly on controller, better than touch screen maybe, but I haven't had it on my phone in a while, please give this game a try it is a masterpiece
