Hi, Welcome and hello!
Public News time!
Two weeks ago, on Saturday the 23rd of August, Version 0.2.1 released! Marking the release of the 7th update for Mind the School.
I’m happy to finally release this update after the long time since the last update. Since I had a huge exam phase in a large part of the last half year, I was barely able to work on the game as much as I wanted. But that phase is over, so I’m finally able to get back to work on the game as I could before.
Now that the update is out, what is planned for the next one. Quite a lot, as always. I plan on reworking the quest system. The current one is a bit wobble and inconsistent, so I want to replace it with a better system. (The old one is still in 0.2.1, but it does not affect the game. The quest system only displays the current state and will never have influence on the progression itself. So please do not report on Quest System Errors.) Then I plan on adding the new dialogue background system. If you want to know, what that is, check out the previous news posts, where I talk about that system. On Discord I then had a bit of a talk with two of my dear supporters, and we came to a solution to help make the events appearances less RNG while maintaining the concept of those events. So that is planned. And finally I plan on adding a new location. One that is quite crucial to the progression and that should be quite fun I hope. But I’ll talk about that one later ;)
Unfortunately that is all I have to talk about, since there is not much development happening during release time. Mostly work consists of fixing bugs that get reported after release and planning the next update.
The start is interesting, but considering it is inspired by Ashford Academy Redux, there are going to be a lot of issues.Firstly, I found the pace way too extreme compared to what it should be, I know the potion will die down but the jump will make any progress you make feel empty and unfulfilling. Just like the security started out reserved for having sex and helping you. I wish there were better ways to convert her as it feels a bit superficial, like ok she is now more open but her judgement should not be so changed that she wants to suddenly corrupt everyone. (IMO potions this early feel like I've added a cheat code, i would want it but half way through the game when I unlock the science building). In Ashford Academy Redux, what made it interesting was the randomness of events, I do wonder how you will do this as even at the start I would normally expect at least 5 to 10 scenes for the most basic formal setting. If you can generate this then fair play but it'll be hard.I think for advice, I'd take away the comment about being inspired by Ashford Academy Redux as it'll create way too high of expectations. I wish I did not see it as I would not have been as critical. The positive is that the scenes are actually really nice and I fully enjoyed myself, if you can recreate this with the randomness you mentioned then it'll be amazing!
I mean it has some potential but... there is practically nothing here yet. I don't really get the current trend of releasing a 'demo' with virtually no content. This is basically a proof of concept that establishes that the dev can indeed load a game window, handle user input from the mouse and keyboard, display images and videos and sound effects and music... that's about it.It's fairly rough, there are typos and places where it switches randomly between 'headmaster' and 'principal' titles (presumably the same person but not 100% clear?) It also uses some stock name once or twice that don't match the name you provide when prompted for a name. Also, the bit where the MC orders some kind of chemical and gives it to everyone, ON DAY ONE, causing them to all become horny morons and parade around naked was really, painfully dumb. Dude please rethink this, go play 'The Headmaster' and see how that game builds up very slowly, the MC has to carefully introduce sketchy shit gradually over time and build support among the staff to get away with it... That is much more effective than just taking a cheesy shortcut from day one. I am not telling you this to be a dick, I think it's a very important point... corruption needs to built up slowly. Your story and game will suffer immensely if you rush it this way.
Hi! i just downloaded the game and i can't progress after the pta presentation for the sex ed event i even skip a few weeks and try to trigger the event but to no avail and my stats are almost all maxed and the cafeteria event won't trigger.. I'm also stuck at lvl 1 despite doing everything over and over again for hours.. also the yoga class event won't trigger.. i check your walkthrough but i just don't get it it didn't say anything how to trigger those events if you meet the requirements. Or is it triggered by chances? I hope you reply and let me know if there's something wrong with this
Mind the School is a sandbox dash project with a large variability of events, independent choice of the path to obtaining the desired result and a large number of characters involved in the game. You will also be pleased with the high-quality graphics, scale and other features. The main character will be the new director of a private school. The previous director left it in a rather deplorable state. So it will be necessary not only to carry out repairs, but also to try to implement a new approach to the educational process. But not all at once. Nothing will work out without long preparation. So the participants should be patient.
