Gameplay:

The battle system of XV is called the Active Cross Battle. Everything happens in real-time, so the tempo of the battles is intense, requiring players to manipulate quickly.

During the game, the game only allows us to control a single person – the main character Noctis, other characters all play a supporting role. Because of that, they build the entire gameplay system around Noctis and his skills.

Noctis’s battle system has two key areas: single combat accounts mostly in battles and coordination with another character. Regarding single combat, Noctis will use different weapons to attack the enemy.

In the game, there will be no need to combine multiple buttons to create complex combos. Just press and hold the attack button, Noctis will automatically deploy the combo sequence based on the weapon used.

Besides, Noctis also has a special ability that only he has – the ability to Warp Strike. Specifically, Noctis can lock on enemies, use Warp Strike to throw weapons at the enemy and immediately move immediately to it and launch a blow with high damage.

The further the distance, the more damage Warp Strike does. Also, Warp Strike can be used to help Noctis out of danger, or in certain terrains with Warp Points.

When Warp reaches that location, Noctis will automatically restore enough MP bar and increase the HP regeneration rate. Warp Strike is a useful mechanism and has a very important role in the gameplay.

Besides single combat, Noctis can also coordinate with other party members. When fighting, the 3-level energy bar on the left of the screen fills up. Noctis can use that energy to combine attacks with a certain member.

Each special move like that will cost a different amount of energy, but its advantage is high damage.

The regular weapon system of XV is simple with common weapons such as long sword, a gigantic sword, dagger, pistol, spear or shield. Noctis can equip them or give his friends stronger weapons to make the battle easier.

He can equip 4 different weapons simultaneously, including magic, and transferring weapons is very flexible and easy.

Besides these normal weapons, Noctis has its own set of 13 special weapons called “Royal Arms”. They are weapons of the past Lucis kings with special shapes, great damage and can increase the stats for Noctis.

Because of such strength, the downside of the Royal Arms is that if they use them to attack, the weapons will drain Noctis’ blood. So, people will only equip Royal Arms to increase their stats but rarely use them.

Besides, when enough Royal Arms is collected, the game unlocks a special attack for Noctis – the Armiger skill. Meanwhile, Noctis will summon all existing Royal Arms and continuously attack enemies with very nice effects.
