Life Is Strange is a story-driven adventure game based on player choices. The game consists of five chapters, where players follow photography student Max Caulfield on a journey to save his friend Chloe Price. Players will investigate the mysterious disappearances of classmates alongside Chloe Price and explore the entire Arcadia Bay. Players will encounter various crises and conspiracies, and every choice will determine the character's fate—survival or death. Players can utilize their time-rewinding ability to change past regrets, save their classmates, and uncover the truth behind the cases.
Rewind decisions to change outcomes: Life is Strange gives you a direct way to revisit recent moments and test different actions. You can adjust choices, try alternate solutions to puzzles, and immediately see how a scene shifts. This mechanic supports exploration at your own pace and invites careful observation of cause and effect.
Choice-driven storytelling with multiple paths: Your decisions guide conversations, relationships, and later events. Life is Strange tracks what you do and offers branches that reflect those choices over time. As scenes connect, different endings can emerge based on how you handle key moments.
Hand painted visuals and licensed indie soundtrack: Life is Strange keeps its distinct art style on mobile with painterly environments and expressive character work. The soundtrack features licensed tracks from artists such as Alt J, Foals, Angus and Julia Stone, and José González, which set the tone for scenes and transitions. Visuals and music are integrated to support the narrative rhythm throughout each episode.
Character-focused mystery in Arcadia Bay: The story follows Max and Chloe as they look into the disappearance of Rachel Amber. Life is Strange places characters and their connections at the center, with everyday interactions that gradually reveal the town’s hidden sides. This focus keeps attention on dialogue, relationships, and small details that build the larger picture.

Interactive Storytelling with Consequences: Life is Strange offers a unique blend of interactive storytelling and player-driven choice. Set in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, the game follows Max Caulfield—a photography student who discovers she can rewind time. This time manipulation mechanic fundamentally alters how choices affect the story, enabling players to re-experience decisions and immediately see their consequences.
Complex Characters and Realistic Themes: The narrative delves deep into the emotional struggles of adolescence, exploring themes such as friendship, mental health, bullying, and loss. The writing gives each character believable personalities, with relationships that evolve based on player decisions. Max’s journey with her childhood friend Chloe is central to the plot, forming an emotional core that drives the story forward. Sensitive topics are approached thoughtfully, ensuring players feel invested in not just the mystery, but the characters’ lives.
Atmospheric Visuals and Soundtrack: The game’s art style blends hand-painted textures with soft lighting, creating a dreamlike yet grounded setting. Voice acting performances are convincing, particularly Max’s internal monologue, which adds dimension to her character. Accompanied by a carefully curated indie-folk soundtrack, the atmosphere evokes nostalgia and complements the story’s emotional beats.
Time-Rewind Mechanic and Puzzle Design: The central gameplay innovation is Max’s power to rewind short segments of time. This allows players to experiment with dialogue, solve environmental puzzles, and change story outcomes. While the rewind mechanic adds depth, some gameplay segments can occasionally feel repetitive, especially during trial-and-error moments. Puzzle solutions aren’t always intuitive, but the flexibility to retry removes much of the frustration common in narrative adventures.

Understand Alex's Past: When making an important decision, players need to remember Alex's character and her relationships. Thus, it is crucial to be aware of Alex's history. Some clues can be discovered by reading Alex's phone, digging her journal, or talking to the people around her.By searching through her phone and reading old messages, players can get a good grasp of Alex’s personality. As for the journal, Alex writes information about NPCs she meets, along with their powerful emotions. Digging into Alex's past can help players avoid unwanted outcomes.
Use The Major Choice Prompt At Player Discretion: When activating the Major Choice Prompt, the game will tell players how a choice would affect the story. An option like that can be described as a double-edged sword. On one hand, it makes the game much easier and less stressful for new players. On the other hand, it takes away the tension that comes with the fear of making bad choices and the satisfaction of making the right ones.Players can find this option by heading to the game’s settings. While this option may affect the thrill of the game, it's an excellent feature for achievement and trophy hunters.
Not Only Major Choices Are Important: Unfortunately, players tend to focus on major choices and ignore the rest. This is a big mistake, because small choices do have an impact on the story. By choosing to help the Haven Springs citizens, Alex will boost her relationship with them. In the end, this will help the player achieve a good ending.Helping the NPCs is not always included in the big decisions. Some small and insignificant choices like starting an idle conversation can help players immensely. Keep in mind, thoughm that some discussions can only be triggered after using Alex's power to read their emotions.
There Are Consequence Of Each Choice: In every Life Is Strange game, important decisions must be made to proceed with the story. True Colors is no different. Whether it's positive or negative, every choice (major or not), can affect Alex's story.Major decisions will not only affect the story, but also influence Alex's behavior. The protagonist has the power to share the burden of her friends. While this helps the people around her, the same can't be said for Alex. Thus, players should think thoroughly before picking any choice, especially the crucial ones.

Life is strange is the most amazing game I've played. The storyline is impressive. The graffics, controls and voice effects are stunning. Though I cannot purchase other episodes rn but the 1st ep itself was mesmerizing. The game is really simple still I would suggest to add some hints cuz there are a few places where we have to rack our brain hard without any clue. My overall experience was good. I would recommend to play this game at least once even if u cannot buy other episodes. Thankyou!!
A really beautiful game. Maybe a new way of storytelling. However, controlling the characters movement seems a little challenging. Also, why do I have to change the view manually Everytime? Just look at the way you're walking towards,if u need to look behind or at side then swipe.... So,It would be better to make the movement control like GTA games movement. I was really into the game. why do I have to purchase other episodes now??
This is the one of the best games I've played on a smartphone so far. The story is OP.The visuals, music, voice acting, characters everything seems so perfect. This game can make you smile and emotional. It's like I am controlling a Netflix TV show based on teenagers. You can make your own choices in many situations like DETROIT(One of the coolest game in the universe).BUT the controls of moving and looking simultaneously feels quite difficult. Developers should make the moving controls smoother.
I absolutely lost myself in this role playing, laid back but thrilling mistery novel type of game. The voice acting is superb, it's clever, funny, and really sucks you in. I'm having trouble installing purchased episodes or restoring purchases, or downloading. Keep getting server error. I want to continue with episode 3. I hope it gets resolved, or maybe I just need to reboot phone or something. Thank you for a truly free trial with 1st episode, and super great deal for the rest!

Life’s forward momentum never pauses-time flows relentlessly, indifferent to our actions. This unstoppable progression mirrors certain game mechanics where movement is irreversible. In the context of 2D gaming, this often translates to constant forward motion: your character cannot simply freeze in place. Whether by design or physics, the inability to halt becomes a core challenge, forcing players to adapt and strategize in real time. The steps you take, much like time itself, cannot be undone-only navigated with precision.
