This War of Mine is a post-apocalyptic survival adventure game based on true events. Players will begin their survival journey alongside civilians trapped in a city. Without any special abilities, players must lead their companions in repairing and fortifying their shelter during the day, while at night they must send out different personnel to scavenge for various resources to continue surviving. As the game progresses, players will encounter more challenges, such as requests for help from other survivors and the serious illness of their companions. Players will need to make difficult choices: sacrifice or do everything possible to protect everyone. Your choices will lead the story in different directions. Note that players can also use various resources to craft various weapons and items to help them survive longer in the city.
Entering the world of This War of Mine, you will immediately feel the suffocating, gloomy atmosphere like a dead end. This is not a flashy war where soldiers fight for honor or duty. There is no glory, no halo of heroes, only the bare survival of innocent people.
This War of Mine is inspired by the siege of Sarajevo, which lasted nearly four years during the Bosnian War, where thousands of civilians were trapped in violence and deprivation. Set in a ruined city, the game offers a haunting look at the brutality of war from the perspective of ordinary people.
Not a battle for glory or fame. Not an adventure where you can survive on strength or weapons. This War of Mine puts you in the role of a commoner, with nothing but your bare hands and your survival instincts amidst the ruins. During the day, you hide in the shadows of a mostly destroyed building. You can hear snipers echoing in the distance, watching your every move. When night falls, you will have to sneak out of your shelter, searching for every piece of hard bread, every piece of wood, every pill. But in that darkness, you are not the only one hunting. Every night you leave is a secret confrontation, when the slightest noise can cost you your life.

Civilian war experience: Emphasizing the civilian experience instead than conventional warfare, this game presents a different view of battle. Gamers are thrown into the role of common people trying to live in a war-torn metropolis.
Daily survival focus: The story focuses on everyday problems like getting food, keeping a safe place to live, and keeping loved ones safe. This way of looking at armed battles gives us a powerful and often ignored view.
Moral wartime choices: An important component of the game is learning how to handle difficult moral problems arising in combat. Players have to make tough decisions that could compromise their own or others’ lives. You might have to give up your ideas to keep safe, aid friends even if it puts you at risk, or share scarce resources.
Time-based action system: The game has a changing cycle between day and night that has a big impact on how you play. At different times of the day, different risks and tasks appear, so players have to carefully plan what they do. One example is that hunting might be easier but more dangerous at night, while daytime is safer but easier for enemies to see.
Survival resource management: Crafting is the most important part of this game, as well as the managing resource. Therefore, players have to choose what to use, sell, or save for later carefully from the limited goods they have.
Varied game experiences: Random factors are added to the game to make it more fun to play again and again. Every time you play, the obstacles, events, and resource division are different. Thus, you will have a wide range of experiences when playing this game.

DISTRIBUTE TASKS: No person in the household should be left without a task . The time your characters can do something in each day is very limited and it must be used well! Ideally, they should also do the things they do best . See point 9 for this!
NUTRITION: Hunger and disease will quickly return to your accommodation. The stages of hunger are: Well-fed , Normal , Hungry , Very Hungry , Starving and Starving . The condition should never go beyond Hungry, because then the characters become weak. You should upgrade the stove as quickly as possible, then you can make two portions of food instead of just one, and thus feed two people at the same time.
MEDICATIONS: Not only do you have to keep an eye on hunger, but also on the health of your survivors! Here are the levels: Slightly Sick , Sick , Seriously Sick and Deathly Sick .You shouldn't ignore the mildly ill stage and should do something about it straight away. People quickly become weak and can very quickly move little or not at all.
MENTAL HEALTH: Events that your characters experience or trigger themselves can have a good or bad effect on their mood . If you help other people who knock on your door, for example, the mood will remain stable. If a character dies or an innocent person is killed, the residents become depressed .Good deeds, enough food, plenty of sleep and guitar and radio music will help you to brighten your mood again. Some characters also have individual needs (smokers, coffee drinkers, etc.) that must be satisfied to improve their mood.
DON'T COLLECT EVERYTHING FROM YOUR HOUSE: I often had the feeling that looters were magically attracted to houses that had a lot in their inventory . Once something is in your inventory, you can't store it in cupboards. It's more work to chase the individual residents back and forth when you need materials, but at least you keep almost everything.Even residents who eventually get fed up and leave you overnight will hardly be able to steal from you.

I bought this game, and was completely hooked. I didn't notice the time go by while playing it. It's an amazing game. Each day is an art of survival, not just for your character but also for the ones close to him/her, and then also subtly for your conscience, which is what makes this game really special. You would never take a decision lightly again after you understood what's at stake. It reflects the hard choices of war. And the humanity that is affected with every action or inaction.
The game is good, but you guys haven't fixed the combat mode bug. My game always crashes and it goes back to the main menu. It's so frustrating especially when you're making great progress during scavenging especially after it crashes you do the previous day all over again. EDIT: The combat crash has been fixed now, I don't experience it any more.
Definitely a nice, deep, dark game. One of those things that really make you think... Definitely enjoyable- if a little overpriced (Seriously, Minecraft is cheaper than this... at least the pocket edition. ...anyways.) I'd recommend buying only if it is either on sale, or you know for sure that you are going to enjoy it. Not saying it's a bad game or not worth the money- Just saying with the price, give it some thought on if this really is what you want to spend your money on.
Great game. I've played on ps4 and in all honesty I prefer the android version. Gameplay is great, I've not experienced any issue or crashes. I've completed a few character combinations, some are more testing than others. My one critique would be the lack of a sandbox mode. On a few playthroughs the war ended and I was a bit gutted about having to end it. I wouldnt have minded the chance to continue playing.
The gameplay essence of This War of Mine is unique in that it utilizes story-driven elements to bring people high-quality stories across a series of scenarios. Each player’s progress unlocks new things in the story, such as locations, characters, and new functions to interact with the environment or more. However, as the plot deepens, many painful elements will appear but gradually enrich everything in different directions for players to enjoy.

Life’s forward momentum never pauses-time flows relentlessly, indifferent to our actions. This unstoppable progression mirrors certain game mechanics where movement is irreversible. In the context of 2D gaming, this often translates to constant forward motion: your character cannot simply freeze in place. Whether by design or physics, the inability to halt becomes a core challenge, forcing players to adapt and strategize in real time. The steps you take, much like time itself, cannot be undone-only navigated with precision.
