Monster X Monster is a highly innovative roguelike card game. It features turn-based combat, character progression elements, and a "tower-climbing" mechanic similar to Slay the Spire—all familiar elements to players accustomed to this genre. Beyond these, it boasts several refreshing features. For example, monsters hatched from eggs can fuse into new monsters, and each monster's deck is composed of cards representing its body parts—creative elements not found in other games. The combat mechanics incorporate positioning, with some cards' usage constrained by their placement, adding a strategic dimension to battles and requiring players to consider more. In fact, despite its whimsical style, the game is not easy to play and has a high learning curve. With four monsters, players must consider significantly more factors in each round than in Slay the Spire: how to build each monster's deck, how to arrange their positions, the optimal card order for maximizing effectiveness, and how to counter the boss's next move. The dungeon rooms offer a wealth of random events, some of which are purely based on luck, such as the coin slot machine, adding to the excitement of the game. Overall, for players who enjoy RL+DBG gameplay, Monster X Monster is a game well worth experiencing. While it may seem similar to Slay the Spire, its overall concept and gameplay experience are quite different, making it highly replayable.

The quirky monsters are quite endearing, cute and silly. I spent an hour or two dying, seriously studying them before I finally got the hang of them... But the problem lies in the chaotic game system. After getting the hang of it, I seriously researched combination strategies, but by the time I reached the third level, a single game had already lasted 3 hours. I almost had a brain hemorrhage and committed suicide... All four character skills are randomly picked up, averaging about 15 cards per character. There's little interaction between cards, making the four characters require several times the strategic thinking of other card games... And this is just the combat issue (few combinations between monster cards, and the sheer number makes it difficult to draw the desired cards).
