There Is No Game: WD
Introduction

There Is No Game: WD is a point-and-click adventure game that breaks the fourth wall. After being accidentally drawn into a game world, players embark on a journey to find their way home. Players will experience multiple game worlds, encountering a variety of NPCs and various interesting puzzles. Facing textual traps and fun mini-games, players need to fully utilize their imagination, as the solutions to puzzles may appear in unexpected places. Of course, the game also has a built-in hint system; when players are stuck on a level for a long time, they can use this mechanism to quickly pass the level, making the game easier. As players successfully solve puzzles and return to the real world, you will face a final choice: continue playing this erroneous game, or delete it?

Story:

Chapter 1 - Play within a play: As soon as the game starts, the narrator says there is no game here and tells him to leave, but the user presses here and there and continues to do what he is told not to do. It then enters Narrator's fake OS and opens a forbidden folder to run the Indian version of 'This Is Not A Game'. Mr. Glitch has been trapped and the narrator tries to stop him, but the Soviet Russian, French, Japanese, etc. keep running different versions of 'There Is No Game'. They fight the chase and eventually create a dimensional vortex that gets everything swept away.

Chapter 2 - The flip side of the pole: The user and the narrator drop in front of an old TV and enter a point-and-click adventure game based on the Sherlock Holmes series . He tried to get out of the game world without disturbing it, but it wasn't easy, so in the end the narrator revealed to the NPCs that he was actually a 'game' and asked them to help him get out of here. However, the characters in the game did not know that they were video game characters, and treated the word 'game' as nonsense and ignored it. At the end of twists and turns, he uses the in-game structure to open the dimensional vortex, but Mr. Glitch will also be released again. Go after the glitch and enter the vortex to save Holmes and Watson and return to the original place. As a side note, this Sherlock Holmes game has been decided to be released as a sequel called Crushed in time.

Chapter 3 - The Good, the Bad, and the Princess: The user and the 'game' enter an RPG called Legend of the Secret, and this time they try to help the NPC out of the game, but the main character of the game is so stupid that he pretends to be 'Gaia', the goddess in the game, and saves the princess kidnapped in the temple of the dimension again. Trying to find the dimensional vortex. The diss of the hero, who says his voice is quite thick for a goddess, is a bonus, but at the end Mr. Due to the glitch, the game is remodeled without being able to go to another dimension. In the dungeon scene with a lot of snakes in the middle, the 'game' is a reptile in the dungeon Indiana Jones series 1 Raiders (original title: Raiders of the Lost Ark )It is mentioned that there are more

Chapter 4 - Free to Pay: Mr. Due to the glitch, 'Legend of the Secret' becomes a Free2Play game , and all actions and objects require clickers and money. Despite such restrictions, 'games' and users are Mr. Find the glitch and enter the dimensional vortex again. It is impossible to proceed in front of the temple, and in the development that requires labor to pay for the season pass of 1 million coins, it drips, saying that the 'game' is like a Korean MMORPG.

Chapter 5 - Out of Control: The end credits appear as an epilogue, but in reality, this is also a different world.[7] Mr. You get stuck with the glitch. Mr. He promises to send Glitch back home if he saves him, and changes the names of the credit characters to get him out, but of course the promise is false and he fixes the 'game' in charge of music and forces him to sing only.[8] The user saves him by creating a game with credit characters, but in the process, he summons a character named GiGi. When this character disappears, Mr. It turns out that glitches were born from 'games'. Mr. GiGi's real name is 'Global G ameplay ' . Glitch sarcastically says that it is natural for her to leave you and pins GiGi as the music manager instead of the 'game'.[9] The 'game' and the user destroy GiGi's code, creating a dimensional vortex and returning it to its original state.

Features:

Flat yet stunning 3D visuals with a twist: The graphics creatively mix simple two-dimensional art with more complex three-dimensional spaces. Some areas deliberately mimic old, basic computer interfaces. Meanwhile, others suddenly transform into lush fantasy landscapes or sleek sci-fi worlds. This constant visual variety keeps the exploration exciting and visually fresh. Furthermore, the clean and colorful art style ensures every screen is a delight to observe.

Fully voiced comedy and clever writing: Every single line from the narrator is delivered by a talented voice actor. The performance is brimming with energetic emotion, bringing the character to life. Additionally, the writing itself is exceptionally sharp and densely packed with jokes. Humor arises from situational comedy, witty wordplay, and the constant subversion of player expectations. In fact, the clever dialogue stands as one of the adventure’s biggest highlights.

Intentionally buggy but brilliantly designed gameplay: Certain parts of the experience seem purposefully broken or glitched. For instance, a button might not work, or a screen could appear to freeze. However, these are not real errors but carefully crafted puzzle elements. Figuring out how to “fix” these intentional glitches becomes a central part of the fun. So, while the surface seems chaotic, the underlying design is remarkably clever and precise.

Breaking the fourth wall in the funniest ways: This game constantly breaks the fourth wall, meaning it talks directly to the player. The narrator openly comments on every action, perhaps complaining about mouse clicks or mocking puzzle-solving attempts. This technique forges a unique and personal connection between the player and the digital world. It truly feels like the game is aware of your presence.

References and Easter eggs that reward clever players: Observant players will discover numerous nods to other famous games and internet culture. While these Easter eggs are not necessary for progress, they add a wonderful layer of fun. Discovering these hidden jokes feels like a special reward for paying close attention. Moreover, they showcase the developers’ clear affection for video game history.

Strategies:

Exclamation Mark: Stuck already?! The program said not to touch anything.Make the exclamation mark fall down.

The Rope: Given the shape that rope is in, it'd just take a little snip from the scissors...Choose the "paper" card and you'll be able to get the scissors!

The sound icon: Dropping a heavy object on the ground a few times can sometimes cause unexpected things to happen.

The Balloon: Something sharp could pop that balloon.Try to catch the cursor and pop the balloon.

Screws: Aren't those the screws we're looking at? All that's missing is a screwdriver. The letter T is the perfect tool to unscrew all of this.

Doormat: Every corner of this doormat seems to be firmly nailed to the floor... except one.

The Key: This key doesn't fit the lock on the door. Look for a gray lock. There are lots of locks in the language selection screen. One of the locks above the French flag looks like it's a fit for the key.

The lock: Did you try to pick the lock with a sharp object? The key falls to the ground before it's put back in place. Use that to your advantage.Place something under the door to catch the key when it falls.

Squirrel with the key: If you need a hazelnut, you need to find a hazelnut tree. You'll find the hazelnut tree in the "Images" folder.

Player Comments:

This is a difficult one for me. The premise is excellent, the execution good... even if the gameplay is rough around the edges at times. Puzzles can feel random, more like "click yourself around to the right solution" as in "finally finding the item to progress" instead of interacting with given things, then understanding the puzzle to finally solve it. The hint system is inconsistent, from "Interact with the only thing on screen" to "Here is the solution right away". Last but not least, some gameplay elements are exhausting and boring and even the narrator naggs about it. And there is no way to turn of screenshake, with was a huge uncomfortability for me.BUT i recommend this non-game. Maybe wait for a sale as 13€ for 5 hours are a bit much given the statements above imo.

I always said to my friends that I wanted to play a game where I was an abstract entity (well, technically, I told them I was going to write a piece about that, but I always ended up getting caught in something else, you know how it goes), but some said it couldn't be done, some said time wasn't ripe yet, others said "Postmodernism in gaming!? Come on, get your head straight, man!". This game proved us all wrong and it's the greatest feeling that ever graced my computer.

There is something simply magical about this August of 2020.Seemingly in spite of the otherwise terrible year, two separate creators, making separate games, released around the same window to near universally positive reviews. These games, the first of which being the Henry Stickmin Collection, and now There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension, represent two independent artists taking the leap from browser based games for sites like newgrounds to the "big leagues" in comparison, a fully featured, successful release on steam, with a witty humor that is sorely missed during these times.Everything past this has the potential to be a spoiler so I'm going to block it all off.To quote the poet Maya Angelou "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."This game to me exemplifies this quote to the creator, it's his gift from him to us, a passion project stitched with love against all of the odds that no one knew they wanted until they were given the chance to play it.Don't come in with some overblown expectations, just enjoy it for what it is, the creation of a sentient being who spent their time and energy making something for you to enjoy, and who did a great job at achieving that. It's noble, admirable, inspiring.

Conclusion:

Games come in various genres and play styles, but they all have one thing in common: puzzles. Each game features challenging problems that demand the player’s full attention and critical thinking skills. There are also a lot of unusual questions that will test your ability to think “beyond the box.” The game consistently provides an overwhelming number of unique puzzle pieces. That’s why every new material in There Is No Game is more amazing and rewarding. The game offers various challenging puzzles that can’t be found in similar titles.
