Battle Trainers Everywhere: Whether you’re honing your skills, climbing the ranks, or just looking for a friendly match, there’s always someone ready to play wherever you are.
Fresh Battle Passes: Each new expansion release introduces a brand-new Battle Pass loaded with two new competitive decks, tons of booster packs, and deck cosmetics like coins, deck boxes, and card sleeves—all at no cost to the player. Collect rare alternate-art cards and customize your deck along the way.
Challenge the Ladder: Once you find your footing, test your skills in competitive matches and rise through the Leagues. Aim for the prestigious Arceus League, where you can see if you have what it takes to be the very best.

Doing Your Daily Challenges Every Day: Let’s be honest; most of us are pretty lazy when it comes to doing our Daily Challenges, especially with all the bugs and disappointments surrounding the new TCG client. However, we’re also significantly undervaluing the benefits of regularly completing Daily challenges, unlike most experienced players. Each Daily Challenge rewards you with 60 Crystals. On its own, that might seem like an insignificant amount, but it starts to add up when you regularly complete your Daily Challenges. To put things into perspective, you can earn 1,800 crystals in a single month and then invest in the Premium Battle Pass. Now you have a fantastic Tier 1 Deck in your collection without spending a single penny from your pocket.
Use Your Free To Play Decks: Pokemon TCG Live awards all new players with eight free decks to mess around with. Most of these decks can be tuned to make for pretty powerful decks. If you’re a free-to-play player looking to work up the competitive ladder, these free decks are a fantastic way to level up your game rather than buying individual cards to build a deck from scratch. I mean, how could you deny yourself a free Blissey V deck?
Open Celebration Packs: As you’ve probably found out by now, you can only earn in-game credits by accumulating more than four copies of the same card. If you try gathering duplicates by purchasing packs from the main expansion, it will take you quite a while to start earning credits. A wiser way to go about it is to purchase the Celebration packs, which give cards from a much smaller pool.Sure, you might have to see the same old boring cards coming out of each pack, but that’s the point! You’ll be cashing in duplicates after just a few packs!
Save Your Crystals: Pokemon TCG Live has a way of tempting you into spending your Crystals on things that don’t give you the bang for your buck. When shifting to the new game client, managing your economy properly and being somewhat frugal regarding Crystal purchases is essential. For Celebration Packs and the Battle Pass, save up for the biggest bundle instead of wasting your crystals on the smaller bundles. Many inexperienced players tend to buy the standard one as soon as they have 600 in their wallet. However, the Premium Battle Pass offers far more value and far stronger cards, so it’s probably wiser to save up to that 1,800 Crystal mark instead, especially if you’re fully committed to maxing the Battle Pass anyways.
Importing Your Deck Lists: Unfortunately, Pokemon TCG Live didn’t have a robust system to import your saved Deck Lists into the new client. There’s still a workaround, albeit a tedious one. All you have to do is go to each deck in TCG Online that you want to import and export it to a Word Document file (or any file which is compatible with TCG Live). After that, you can complete the migration process and use the Import Deck option to add each deck to TCG Live with your list of available cards. Now you don’t have to worry about constructing each deck from scratch!

The Credit system isn’t as bad as I thought it’d be, it’s actually very fair when you factor in the changes made to booster packs and card rarities made in SVI.
The art and the orientation of the playing field isn’t as disorienting as I had feared, it takes some getting used to but then it becomes second nature.
The game is a bit faster than Online was, dragging cards rather than tapping them takes some getting used to but it becomes second nature pretty quickly.
Adding phones to the list of available devices has really helped boost the overall accessibility of the game.
Opening packs from any pre-SVI set that’s currently available in the in-game shop (Sun & Moon-through-Crown Zenith, I have some old pre-SUM era code cards but I’d rather not risk it) is iffy, the Credit system isn’t kind to these sets and you’re better off using said Credit system to get the BLW-CRZ cards you want
The 3D models used for player avatars are a step-up from Online’s Flash-era 2D paper dress-up puppets but they’re still really awkward to look at
There’s no way to report players in-game, this is something Online had and I’m kind of shocked that Live never bothered to import it
Pairings need to be retooled, mirror matches are WAY too common
Live’s Battle Pass is a nice upgrade to Online’s VS Rewards, I just wish there was a way to expand it beyond the 50 level max
The Ranked ladder is nice but it becomes a slog once you get into Greninja Rank, I rarely go beyond Houndoom level and the highest I’ve ever gotten is Alakazam level.
No landscape mode for tablets, the fact that we STILL don’t have one a year later (despite the desktop app’s layout being good for tablets as well as computers) is depressing.
The end match animation doesn’t an on/off option. This has been brought up MULTIPLE times during the last year and the only way I feel TPCi would do anything about it is, if the rumors about loss of Online’s in-match chat function are true, something tragic happens to a player that doesn’t take it well.
There’s no in-game option to enable/block emotes, enabling some players to emote spam when the match doesn’t go their way. This feature is something Online had and it helped cut down on that behavior pretty quickly.

How do I navigate to the Learning Lab?
From the game’s home screen, select the “Learn” tab.
How is my progress saved?
If you close the game while you are in the Learning Lab, the game will load back into the Learning Lab the next time you log in. However, game progress is not saved if you do not fully complete a Learning Lab lesson. If you lose, exit the game, or concede, you must restart the lesson.
Are there rewards for completing lessons?
Rewards for completing lessons in the Learning Lab are coming in a future release. Once rewards are added, you will receive rewards for any Learning Lab lessons you completed prior to the release.
Do I have to complete the lessons in order?
No, you do not have to complete the lessons in order. You are welcome to choose any lesson you are interested in.
Are trade-locked items eligible to be migrated to Pokémon TCG Live?
Yes. The migration process uses the combined total of tradable and trade-locked copies of an item in the collection. This applies to cards, accessories, and unopened products and bundles in the player’s Pokémon TCG Online collection at the time they migrate their collection to Pokémon TCG Live.
In a nutshell, Pokémon TCG Live transforms your Pokémon gaming experience from the typical, interactive monster-hunting mechanics to a heavily card-based one. You will still meet your favorite adorable creatures in this game, but this time they are in the form of cards. Player avatar customization is also highly promoted, with lots of options to choose from.
