Sky - Filhos da Luz is a beloved interactive adventure game where players, clad in flying capes, explore seven unique regions, showcasing their wits to solve puzzles scattered across the world and earn rewards and in-game currency. The game boasts a robust social system, allowing you to add interested players as friends at any time, chat, send gifts to deepen connections, and invite friends to join your adventure. The game offers extensive customization options, allowing you to freely set your character's hairstyle, clothing, expressions, and actions, enhancing the gameplay experience. In the latest version, players will delve into Van Gogh's life and inner world, witnessing his confusion and final, poignant moments, providing an unforgettable gaming journey.
In Sky - Filhos da Luz, players explore a once-prosperous kingdom using a cape that allows them to fly. The in-game world consists of seven unique realms, each with a variety of areas to explore, and a theme representing different stages of life. There is also Home and Aviary Village, with Home being a small island which serves as the world hub and the starting point and Aviary Village as a village with shops and a place that the player can customize as their house. Throughout the world, players encounter "spirits" that allow them to unlock items in return for in-game currency, and "children of light" which give players "winged light". When a player has collected enough winged light, their cape level goes up, allowing them to fly further.
The game places heavy focus on social mechanics. Players are able to meet and befriend one another, and can unlock new abilities like chat and sending gifts as their friendship grows. There are also many cosmetic items to collect including capes, masks, hairstyles, hats, pants, shoes, musical instruments, expressions, and more. These items can be obtained using in-game currency or, in some cases, bought with real money. Some cosmetics are only available to certain players, such as the original beta cape, exclusive to those who played the beta version prior to the full release.
Sky - Filhos da Luz has multiple in-game currencies. "Candles" are the main currency of Sky - Filhos da Luz , and are exchanged with spirits and friends in return for items and abilities. Candles are obtained by collecting pieces of light (called wax in-game) and forging them, or by purchasing them for real money. "Hearts" are the social currency of Sky - Filhos da Luz , and are obtained when players receive gifts from others, or can be bought directly from spirits with candles. Hearts are mainly used to purchase cosmetic items from spirits. "Ascended candles" are the rarest currency in Sky - Filhos da Luz , which are rewarded to players for giving their winged light to "the fallen" at the end of the game. Ascended candles are exchanged with spirits for "wing buffs", which give players extra Winged Light, or can be used to upgrade friendship and purchase various spells such as height alteration and cape recharge.

Emphasis on Exploration and Discovery: This title encourages players to explore at their own pace, rewarding curiosity with hidden secrets, new areas, and collectible items. The core objective revolves around restoring fallen stars and reuniting lost spirits, which gradually reveals piecemeal narratives embedded in the world’s environment. Puzzles are woven seamlessly into the fabric of each realm and often require creative thinking or collaboration with others. No combat mechanics are present, allowing exploration and puzzle-solving to take center stage.
Innovative Social Mechanics: Sky - Filhos da Luz redefines social interaction within games. While every player is represented as a silent, anonymous traveler, communication occurs through expressive gestures, shared actions, and collectible emotes. Building meaningful bonds with others can unlock cooperative challenges or hidden passages. Collaboration is organic rather than enforced; while entirely playable solo, partnering with others adds depth to certain quests and reveals additional story layers.
Soundtrack and Audio Experience: The orchestral score is a vital part of the experience, displaying a delicate balance of ambient melodies and poignant crescendos. The music responds contextually to in-game events, enhancing emotional impact and drawing players further into the world. Subtle sound effects—such as the rustling of grass, gentle breezes, or faint echoes in cavernous spaces—contribute to the overall immersion.
Progression and Customization: Players collect “light” to upgrade their abilities, most notably flight, which is central to traversing intricate maps. As abilities grow, previously inaccessible areas become reachable, inviting players to revisit earlier realms with new potential for discovery. Cosmetic customization is available through capes, masks, and hairstyles, allowing for personal flair and further distinguishing each character during social encounters.

My first and most important tip is to NOT give into FOMO (the Fear of Missing Out). This is something that gets a lot of people in games like these, but it's important to realize that not only will most content be slowly returning at later dates, but TGC is always adding new and sometimes better items to get instead.
Take it all at your own pace, there's a lot to explore in Sky: Filhos da Luz and it definitely shouldn't be rushed. Backtracking and looking for things you missed is highly recommended as well, there're a lot of hidden areas and generally charming details that you might find.
Don't be afraid to make friends! Something really unique about Sky: Filhos da Luz is the incredibly kind and diverse playerbase, where you can find lots of people to form genuine connections with. Without much effort, people can go from a name on a list to genuine friends that you'll spend lots of valuable time bonding with. Of course not everyone can be your friend, but there are plenty of people who'd like to be.
Invite your current friends to join you! While Sky: Filhos da Luz has lots of new friends to meet, going into it with any friends you have now is great too! Speaking from personal experience, having a group within your friends to consistently play and talk about Sky with is pretty awesome .
Rest easy with a small collection of candles. Candles (the IGC, or In-game currency), are often needed to buy things you might like. It's very recommended and often not too difficult to keep a stash of candles on you for when you reaaally want that item that just arrived.

I've put over 1000 hours in this game across different platforms, and I've seen all there is to see. If you're a new player hesitant to play, I'm going to try and summarize what type of a game it is and what to expect without spoilers.
Your first/second playthrough of the game will probably be the most enjoyable. First you'll discover the main story bit by bit. After finishing the game for the first time, you'll come back to find even more secondary questlines.
The coolest thing in my opinion is the world. The locations are extremely beautiful, all of them convey a mood, have heavenly music, tons of nooks to explore and generally are awesome. If you like the screenshots on the Steam page, you'll love the world, because there's hardly any difference between them and the actual game.
Gameplay-wise, the main mechanics are lighting things, running, flying and interacting with other players. That's it. This is what you are going to be doing most of the time. Most interactions with the game will be light this, then run here, fly there, and light that.
Also there are a lot of musical instruments that you can use to play any tune, but it has no mechanical effect, it's just for fun.
After you've done all or most questlines and spirits, you've experienced most of the fun content of the game.
Here's where most people will say it's getting grindy, because only content you have to unlock are cosmetics. Cosmetics also are the only portion of the game affected by in app purchases. No other content is locked behind money or grinding, only cosmetics. However, there's way more cosmetics than there is of any other content in the game.
A pretty outfit may cost you about 200+ candles, 20 candles take about 3 hours to get, so it's about 30 hours of running around already explored locations lighting candles and plants, no interesting gameplay, new stories, etc. involved. A typical paid cape is about $15-20, with no regional pricing.
Most of the cosmetics in game are time limited, this is why people are complaining about FOMO. Even cosmetics for in game currency usually are only available for 4 days(!) once in 2 years. Some paid items are not coming back at all, though a majority of paid items come back once a year.
I've been saying "most people" all this time because there's one more important aspect that I haven't mentioned. For some, me included, Sky has become a place to meet and socialize with other people, and it's a great remedy against loneliness. The community is one of the most beginner-friendly and nicest I've seen.
Overall, I'd recommend you to play Sky for the stories and exploration. After you've explored everything, the grinding phase starts, and here's when I'd recommend you to hop off and maybe come back a few seasons later, when more locations and new stories are introduced.
I have almost all cosmetics in the game, and I can tell you, pretty pants aren't worth neither time nor money. Enjoy the experience and as soon as it starts feeling like work, it's time to take a break. Take care of yourselves.
