Metal Slug Attack Mod combines familiar Metal Slug characters with engaging strategic tower defense gameplay. With a simple click, you can battle against players worldwide. Each player will have their own base, strategically using different cards to generate armies, accelerate AP generation, and create various buffs to destroy enemy bases and claim victory and rewards. The game features over 300 different faction characters to choose from. Build and develop your dream deck to win and climb the leaderboards. The game also adds new character storylines and follow-up content, with a gallery system allowing players to easily revisit these characters' exciting tales.
Much like its predecessor, at the core of this game is the 2D (side-scrolling, given the main series' style) 1-on-1 sub-genre of tower defense/strategy, with 2 bases on either side of the level where units are spawned. The main objective of the game is to destroy the opposing base by any means.
Once the game begins, forces start accruing Action Points (or AP for short), which are used to produce units that automatically advance toward the enemy's base. They can either execute attacks, or construct objects that impede the opponent, support allies, or produce additional units at no cost. Paying Rumi Aikawa a certain amount of AP will improve the rate at which AP build up, as well as the maximum AP that can be stored a time. Additionally, destroying enemy units grants a small amount of AP.
Most units have both a standard attack (melee and/or ranged) and a special attack. When the unit is within range of an enemy, it will begin its standard attack. After a predetermined length of time, the special attack will become available, indicated by a light blue "aura" surrounding the unit, that is activated by tapping. After finishing the special attack, the unit will continue with its standard attack until the special attack is charged again. For an extra edge in battle the player can purchase Power-Ups.

Simple controls: The gameplay is designed in the form of a defensive tower. That means you have a main headquarters, your forces come out from here. Their task is to defend against enemy attacks, or attack to take over enemy headquarters. Your combat units will require a certain AP number. This AP will be continually restored inside the headquarters, and upgrading headquarters will give you higher recovery AP and greater maximum capacity. You just have to select units when you have enough points to command them to battle. Or simply select the automatic mode, at which point the computer will select the battle unit automatically. You just have to wait for the results.
Combat units: This game has a variety of combat units such as infantry, artillery infantry, knife-armored infantry, tanks, armored vehicles,… Basic stats are different. Understanding all the units you manage is already part of the victory. When you complete a mission you will be rewarded with medals. Use this medal to unlock a new unit, or unlock materials to upgrade an existing unit. In each mission, you can only choose a number of units to go with only. So focus on a few key units instead of doing a spreadable upgrade without being able to carry all of them.
Various missions: Many missions are pre-designed in the game, they are divided into levels with enemy units having multiple combat units, and headquarters strength increase from easy to difficult. To be able to defeat them, you will need to think very quickly and accurately or upgrade your army to strong. The game modes are available such as “P.O.W. RESCUE”, “COMBAT SCHOOL” or “TREASURE HUNT”. Each game mode has different sets of fighting and winning rules, please study them carefully before deciding to join.
Connecting with people: Will not just be offline missions, you can also participate in online matches with all players around the world. Join a battle with up to 4 participants, letting them know who is the strongest.
Simple graphics: The graphics of the game are very simple, they are so simple that you can see each colored square that makes up them. This is no slack, this is a style of graphics that have been preserved since the game’s debut on consoles. At that time, the gaming equipment was extremely limited, unable to design the characters too detailed because the machine would not be able to display them. Now, this old design makes the game size lighter, helping players with less powerful devices, but still able to have a smooth gaming experience.

Keep Moving: It’s best to keep moving, or enemies will spot and attack you very easily. Stay on the run and use your offensive strategies and special attacks often. Do not rely a lot on taking cover or shelter, as that can slow you down and compromise your adrenaline. Constant movement keeps the pressure on enemies and prevents them from setting up effective counterattacks.
Understand Your Charac2ters: Knowing your playable characters will help you a great deal. All characters have their special weapons and abilities, and picking the right one can help you advance early in the game. Completing different run conditions in Metal Slug Tactics can unlock new characters, giving you fresh options for your team. It’s important to diversify each character’s loadout to get the most out of your squad.
Focus on Objectives: While it’s tempting to focus all your attention on wiping out enemies, objectives are just as important. Make sure you balance between attacking and completing mission objectives, or you may find yourself out of time and failing the mission. Knowing the mission’s goals from the start can help you prioritize your movements and actions accordingly.
Unlock New Loadouts: The coins you earn throughout the game can be converted into credits, which can be used to purchase character load-outs. Each character has different load-outs and can help you with melee attacks, ranged attacks, or more. Make sure you do not choose similar load-outs for every character, as that can make your playstyle very repetitive in Metal Slug Tactics.
Upgrade your Abilities: The map icon with the medal is one of the best rewards because it boosts your ability and power. Increasing an ability’s damage from 4 to 6 can make a big impact. This extra power helps you take down enemies faster and more efficiently. The higher your abilities’ strength, the easier it is to control the battlefield and deal with tougher enemies.

I mostly purchased this game because, like XDive, is in the category of "Mobile Games that went EOS but became available as a full game later". The major difference is that, unlike XDive, they had the decency of giving you this game for stupid cheap. Is what you see: A tower defense game where you spawn Metal Slug characters. They made a lot of new characters and thus new sprite work, which although personally doesn't have the same quality as the OG games, is still mentioning the effort they put for pulling waifus back then.Obviously as an ex-F2P game there's no monetization besides the single purchase. However, again like XDive, is a barebone game that encourages plenty of grinding now that isn't stuck with a stamina system. In this case for better or worse there's an auto mode, so you can make the game dumb easy if you start farming the first stages.I haven't tried the online yet at the time of posting this, but I assure you that will be either a meta tryhard festival with the most abusable units, or simply dead on arrival.Difficult to recommend since is not a proper Metal Slug. But as someone like me who was raised along with the franchise, is worth having arround and play every now and then.
I've played the original MSA. The release is worth it for its price as units have been rebalanced, are easy to obtain all of them in Call to Arms, and enemy stages provide a tough challenge. Though you need to get used to grinding xp and items, since there's no ingame purchases. There is new story content in Another story too. Hoping they can add the historical event stories and the rest of units.
Having played Metal Slug Defense years ago and not much of Attack for obvious reasons, this version is good. So far I haven't seen any micro transactions, this is no buy with real cash anti-features I see so far. You can't outright buy troops like in Defense (in-game points) but that might unlock at a later level, so far it's random what you get. I'm only playing because I liked Defense, so far the story is fricken weird. Honestly I hope they do another mainline Slug game with pixel art, but oh well.
For years Metal Slug Attack Mod was a curio, something I'd never play because of the infinite spend gacha, but would constantly be reminded about when I saw they'd added Mutant Catgirls or giant space butterflies to Metal Slug. Reloaded functions as an archive of that mobile game, rebalanced to be more of a game than a slotmachine that begs for your creditcard. It's a weak game ultimately, but has a similar flashing lights appeal as Vampire Survivors. This is a weak recommendation for that feature, and for the archive of new metal slug art that doesn't look as awful as their new 3D mobile game.
Metal Slug Attack Mod isn't the first Metal Slug tower defense game; it's a sequel to the earlier Metal Slug Defense. If you've played Metal Slug Defense, you'll be familiar with the basics of the gameplay, although the sequel streamlines some of the mechanics of the earlier game. You gather cards to create units which can attack enemy units or build defenses. One of the most powerful units is, of course, the Metal Slug, the high-tech cartoon tank from the arcade series.
