FIFA 14 is a popular football game. In Ultimate Team mode, players can select top players from around the world to form their dream team, competing against other players in dozens of stadiums. Players must manage each player and formation based on the game situation to lead their team to victory and earn coins. At the end of the season, players can buy and sell their team's players in the transfer market, scouting new stars to strengthen the team and selling older players to earn funds and build an even stronger squad. The game also offers diverse gameplay modes such as Club Mode, Weekly Matches, Penalty Shootouts, and Tournaments. Simply participating in these modes will earn players rich rewards to further strengthen their teams and provide an enjoyable gaming experience.
The game’s design lets players create their squad out of staff and professional players, which they can then use to participate in both offline and online divisions and tournaments. FUT also enables players to play a “single online match,” in which they can play one match against another player without participating in competitions or leagues. As participants play online and offline matches, they earn coins to spend on upgrading their squad. Depending on whether the team tied, won, or lost, each game awards a certain number of coins.
PC Gamers and other items are obtained in the form of cards, which can be purchased from other gamers via the transfer option or by purchasing packs. Card grades are divided as follows: bronze medal, golden, and silver, which indicate the caliber of the competitors. Silver, bronze, and gold packs are also available. Customized Packs, which contain uncommon cards, are also available. Packs can be purchased using FIFA points (which must be purchased with actual money) or coins (which can be won by playing FUT matches).
Players can alter any player’s playstyle, as well as tweak kit numbers and player functions for set pieces. Gamers can randomly get well-known players from the past when purchasing Gold Packs, such as Dennis Bergkamp, Ruud Gullit, Pelé, and Gary Lineker.

Stop Sprinting. Only sprint when on the wings or through on goal. Trying to sprint through a congested midfield will just get you tackled.
Jockey while defending (L2 or LT). Jockeying has always been great in FIFA and this year is no different. I consider it to be the most effective way to tackle an opponent.
Hold down L2 and R2 or LT and RT to that Controlled Dribbling thingy. It's useful to keep close control of the ball and skip past defenders.
Keep your defenders back and try to tackle the opponent with your midfielders. Using your midfielders to tackle means that your defenders stay in position and through balls are less effective. If you come rushing out with a CB, you'll have a massive hole in your defence and all your opponent needs to do is a lobbed through ball and he is one on one with your keeper. Don't do this. If you come rushing out with one of your fullbacks, your opponent will end up with tons of space down the wings for Biabiany and Walcott to abuse.
In any formation without a CDM, it is generally good to have at least one CM with Medium/low attacking and high defensive workrates. Examples: Yaya Toure, De Rossi (my personal favourite), Luiz Gustavo, Xabi Alonso and Tiote.
Don't be afraid to pass back to your goalkeeper when under pressure. On the ground though, lobbed balls can result in an own goal.
Don't have the sprint button held down while receiving a pass. It leads to your player having a terrible first touch. Especially with lower rated players.
When playing against good defensive players/World Class or Legendary CPU, be patient in attack. A lot of people seem to force the ball forward and always go for the counter, which, trust me, is very easy to defend for an experienced player. Keep possession, don't be afraid to make sideways and back passes. Spread it around. Make sure all of your attacking players get some time on the ball as to keep their individual ratings/morale up. Vary your attacks, if you notice you've been trying to force it up one side with no success, then try the other flank or go for a slow build-up through the middle. Use as much of the field as you can. It doesn't matter what team you're using or who you're playing, as long as you do these things gaps will eventually open.
My tip would be don't be afraid to stop. Completely stopping, or at least slowing down to an L2/LB crawl can really mess about with opponents. They'll often run a defender right past you, or miss a tackle. This is expecially good with players with good control, and makes getting past defenders super easy.
When doing defensive headers, don't use the pass button, use the lob pass button, you will win so many more of them and it makes heading far less OP.

The gameplay of FIFA has been criticized in the last couple of versions for catering to the more arcade-style player, basically stating that anyone who has fast players and who understand passing can get by on that alone. That is no longer the case as skill is taking center stage. FIFA 14 displays a new dynamic called Precision Movement that is the most realistic in the series. First touches are far more challenging to pull off without losing the ball longer than a fraction of a second, especially if controlling a player who is running. In last year’s version, there were many complaints that sprinting players were able to stop lob passes on a dime with minimal loss of speed. In fact, the game itself this year has been slowed down just a bit. Movements are more realistic and shot power/speed has definitely taken a noticeable step down, though this is stat-oriented, of course.
Skill moves are at a premium to learn this year, as they are still going to be difficult to pull off real-time, but the reward is definitely worth it. Running past players is not as easy as last year as the defending has received a little boost. Of course, it isn’t easy to stop an attack and getting called for fouls is solely dependent on how lenient the official is for the match as nothing has changed with the ratings of the officials and how loose or tight they call a match. Added to the gameplay to go along with the skills and realism are real ball physics, which is more accurate compared to last year. The ball takes more realistic hops and movements depending on the action of a player. The best example for this is curved passes seemed to happen with little effort last year and in the hardest of positions, such as being double-teamed by defenders. This year, it doesn’t just happen randomly and will only be available if a player is more freely open in the field.
There isn’t much to complain about with player movements, mannerisms, or gestures in this year’s version. The graphics do feel a little outdated, but considering the industry is under two months away from making a jump to a new generation, the upgrade there will probably be significant. Facial models for the most popular players have received the necessary upgrades, however, as players that were a bit rough in the past are more accurate and true to how they look in person. If there is a complaint to have in game with the actual gameplay, however, is that the game continues to move away from it truly being pick up and play, even though the controls can be simplified. The issue between FIFA 14 and NHL 14 having a simplified mode is that so much is missed with skills that it truly cripples the experience. If you’re just starting out in the series, time is definitely necessary to present a challenge to more seasons players.
