Some winning conditions include defusing a bomb, planting a bomb and preventing it from being defused by the other team, rescuing all the hostages on a map, preventing the hostages from being rescued, and defeat all the members of the opposing team. When playing on a server without modifications, if players are defeated during a round, they do not respawn until the next round, unlike in many other first-person shooter games, where players respawn on a set timer.

Moving and shooting also differs noticeably from many other first-person shooters. Shooting while moving dramatically decreases accuracy, and holding the mouse button down to continuously shoot will generally produce severe recoil. Recoil can be difficult for beginning players to compensate for because the player's reticle does not correspond with where the bullets actually hit during continuous fire, so beginning players may aim too high during automatic fire. The amount of damage done by a bullet varies dramatically depending upon the body part the bullet hits, with great emphasis on shooting the enemy in the head, which is almost invariably lethal.

Optimizing Your Gaming Graphics and Controls: This is an very important factor when it comes to playing Counter-Strike: Source. Even though today's computer technology can handle the game at the max resolution with the highest settings, some people still have computers that can't handle those high max settings that CS:S offer. You may want to play around with the settings, especially with the Anti Alias settings, shadow settigns, and the screen resolution. This is an very important factor to consider because these settings will affect your overall gameplay. This will also depend on what servers you are playing on whether you are playing on a server that loads high resolution texture maps, models, and such. Controls are also important. You may think it's not important, but sooner or later, there are situations where you will face a situation where you need to change your key bindings. Like for example, I often go on Bunny Hopping servers (Bhoping) and when I when I have to jump, it was hard for me to do bhopping with the default space button. When I changed the key binding of jump from space button to mouse wheel down, it was much better and I adapted to the key binding.The whole point is that you should play around with your controls to your own liking, because to become successful in CS:S, you need to know your key bindings that would attach to your memory for a very long time. Your own key bindings will lead you to sucess.

Controlling your Gun: Now obviously you can be like Rambo or the Heavy from Team Fortress 2 and spray bullets all over your targets and get the points, but here in Counter-Strike: Source, it's a different story. Every rifle and pistols have different recoil. Recoil, you can say its the way how something is being pushed back. When taking down your enemies, ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS never spray your bullets into the enemy,shoot in burst shots,not automatically, like that ones you see on the FAMAS when you select fire from short burst to automatic. UNLESS if you are literally close enough to the enemy to spray the bullets, AKA close quarter. Sniper Rifles pretty much have no effect of recoil because the sniper rifles are pretty easy to use espeically for beginners. Spraying bullets will just cause the builets to point around the enemy instead of hitting them. Practicing this tactic would not only help you get to know the recoil of the weapon, but gives you a better practice of your gun's accuracy.

Getting Headshots: In addition to controlling your gun, you may also want to go for a headshot. Why? Because a headshot is always give you a higher damage and also a better chance to take down an enemy faster. Typically I always go for a headshot and players will also consider that tactic. The secret is this: when you spawn into a game, let's say you are playing a GunGame server, the crosshair on your screen would automatically center it at the middle. This is your tip: try not to move your mouse up and/or down because that would lose your chance of getting a perfect headshot, but of course you can try to center the crosshair again. To try to make it look perfect, find a nearby team mate and try to aim your crosshair at him. Depending on the terrain you are at, you have to try to adjust the angle of the crosshair. With the tactic of controlling your gun, these two tips would give you a better chance of focusing to kill your enemies and either get the kill or the headshot.

By far the best Counter Strike game ever and Source engine was a massive upgrade compared to 1.6. Maps look great, gameplay is amazing, don't even get me started on the lighting and aesthetic. Even just bunnyhopping alone while blasting music on de_nuke will cure all your life problems. 10/10 game I absolutely recommend to anyone considering buying this gem. Old but gold.

Grew up with this game. Played it when I was a little boy at my bes friend, because my parents didn't allow it. What a time. Remember some version from questionable sources, graphics was f.... up all pink/black quares but played it for hours every day. Then I just bought it finally here online. What a game. Lots of servers vanished through the years. Love to play ze_ maps on some croatia-escape server. What a time. Thousands of hours...

This is an old story about a friend i met in css, if you got time to read it, feel free - Thanks.There was once a guy i met in a normal game. I played versus him. We had quite some fun, i won the game after a while, his teammates flamed him in all chat to report him, but he seemed very friendly and just overall a good guy. So i've added him after the match and we talked a bit. It shocked me what he told me. This guy, went through so much that i didn't even know what to say. Since he was a kid, his family told him that he is trash, that he is useless and he would never achieve anything in life, that he only brings trouble to the family and why he doesn't kill himself already. His parents also were very violent and hit him almost daily. He had no friends, nothing in life worth for living. He tried suicide but failed and went into some kinda hospital (which i forgot) for some months. He took medicine against his depressions, which didn't help him at all. He also took overdosis once. This boy is the nicest person i have ever met and the fact that he had to go through such things, it just made me sick. So after the time he told me everything, which took a while cause he was very shy, i tried to help him with every little bit i had. Since myself had a hard time at that moment, i just could relate to him even more. All he did every day was laying in bed, listening to music and playing css. It was not easy for me to help him since he was already in such deep depression for years.I don't know what happened exactly happend cause we didn't play together these last days, but man he got really upset. He wrote me a message with the words that he is quitting css and will kill himself. I tried to contact him but till now i got no response. I know him well enough to know that he wouldn't joke about such things, but i don't know what to think or feel now. Everytime i play css i think about him and what happend to him.I'm sorry i couldn't help you more Gabriel. I miss you and will never forget you. Wherever you are, just know that i will go the path for both of us. You have helped me more then you think and i thank you so much for the time we had together.
