In CTA your task will be to manage the most modern organization, fight international terrorism, and prevent attacks all over the world. Use modern invigilation techniques, discover connections, listen to suspicious phone calls, read private conversations, interrogate suspects, eliminate threats and dismantle terrorist networks.

Listen to realistic phone calls and decide who should be taken under investigation. Be careful though cause people are innocent till proven guilty.

Read and analyze captured suspicious emails, SMS, web talks etc. Having your base on keywords, content and context, decide, react...or not. Assault on privacy?

As a head of the agency, sometimes you will be forced to make moral decisions. Will you be able to sacrifice what it takes to prevent the final attack? Do not let yourself to be caught between the devil and the deep-blue sea.

CTA is oddly playable for how little content it has, the high point being the laughably bad accents on intercepted phone calls. You'll spend all your time on a world map, choosing which flagged contacts should be investigated further and which ignored. Every now and then the CIA or another group will alert you to the high probability of an attack in *random city* which can largely be thwarted if you make heavy use of interrogation rather than drone strikes. Some attacks have basis on reality, such as the Tokyo subway sarin gas attack in 1995.

Unfortunately, all is not good with CTA. This was an Early Access title that never saw completion, so after two or three hours you'll start seeing lots of repeat incidents. Audio logs for the phone call intercepts sometimes have two male voices despite the characters obviously being female and vice versa. The odd dead or captured terrorist will reappear and wreak havoc for an entirely separate group - dead guys sometimes even send money to each other (!?). Actual attacks are heavily concentrated in five or six countries rather than sporadically happening in all of them. Lastly, save file corruption when your game ages past the two dozen hour mark seems to be not uncommon.

Achievement hunters, note this can't be completed without using SAM as the final two achievements cannot be earned. Reaching 100% reputation worldwide is impossible due to many countries having no terrorists originating from them. This will never be patched as PlayWay ceased development of this title when they restructured the studio it came from.

I still suggest playing this though if you end up with it as a bundle extra or can grab it for around $2. It's decently fun and pretty funny sometimes if you don't mind the occasional technical hiccup. Counter Terrorist Agency had all the hallmarks of ending up a really solid game, it just never quite made it there.
