Tap to deploy units

The Battle Cats places along the bottom of the battle screen. You tap an available icon to send that Cat toward the enemy base. While your Cats advance, enemies move toward your own base, so deployment timing matters. A stage ends when one side destroys the opposing base.

Use the Cat Cannon at key moments

The Cat Cannon gives you another way to respond when enemies get close. You can fire it to stop approaching foes and create space for your units to regroup or push forward. Since the cannon is not always ready, it is useful to save it for a dangerous enemy wave or a threat near your base.

Build a roster of Cats

You collect common, rare, and exotic Cats as you play. Different Cats can fit different enemy types and battle situations, so one lineup may not work equally well in every stage. The Battle Cats also lets you save several squads, which helps when you want to switch teams before a difficult battle.

Upgrade and evolve units

Cleared stages provide XP and items for strengthening your roster. You can level up Cats, then evolve them after they reach level 10. Some units can later gain True Forms, giving players another long term goal when basic upgrades no longer provide enough help in tougher content.

Progress through stories and challenges

The game includes hundreds of stages across three Story Mode adventures. After progressing through those areas, you can take on more demanding Legend challenges. Limited time events can also provide items and special units, so checking the in game event timer can help you decide what to play next.

How to play

Open a stage and review the squad currently selected before starting the battle. If the stage has stopped your progress before, choose a saved lineup with Cats better suited to that enemy group.

During battle, tap unit icons when they become available to send Cats from your base. Keep deploying while watching the enemy advance toward your side.

Fire the Cat Cannon when enemies approach your base or when you need time for more Cats to join the fight. Then continue sending units as their icons become available.

After destroying the enemy base, collect the XP and items earned from the cleared stage. Use them to level up units that you use regularly.

When a Cat reaches level 10, check whether it can evolve. As you move into harder stages, revisit your squads and look for units that can later gain True Forms.

Alright, first thing I would like to say is DO NOT listen to those 1-star reviews. Second thing is that I LOVE this game. Good strategy, great designs and incredible campaigns. I do have a few complaints, though- for example, rare cats are really annoying. I always get them and they can be really bad. However, you do not have to drop real life money. I have 2 uber rares and haven't even beat the 3rd empire of cats campaign. I will say though, some enemies are overly difficult like Jackie Peng.

Gatcha and F2P in the same sentence feels weird to type, but it's true, a F2P Gatcha game! There is alot of content in this game surprisingly, with levels that you have to strategize around and you are constantly unlocking new stuff and the designs of some of the cats look really cool. My biggest gripe is treasure farming, it's necessary for the progression and very RNG making it really tedious to do. other than that gud game

This is a game I come back to often within the last 5 years. the art style is great, the gameplay is fun, and there are no forced ads or constant pop-ups to spend money or watch ads. I've gotten probably a total of 3 popups in the last 3 days, and they are easy to exit. There are microtransactions, but they are not necessary to progress in a timely manner. It's one of the best, if not the best, mobile game I have played.
