NPCAgent is a fun, casual game where players follow three NPCs, witnessing the extraordinary lives they lead as a result of various unexpected events and narrative twists. There are no set missions or fixed storylines; instead, the NPCs are given ten dollars, and the plot unfolds differently based on the questions players ask each turn. Will they find jobs? Can they protect what matters? It all depends on the player's choices. The game is constantly being updated and refined, with ongoing improvements to the AI models driving the characters and the addition of new storylines to ensure an even more enjoyable experience for players.

Three NPCs wake up in a town with a park, a home and a cafe. No quests, no story flags. They get $10, an energy bar that drains, and they forget anything they didn't write in their diary before sleeping.
They work the cafe counter, buy meals, talk, lie, hold grudges, fall for each other, have kids, get old, die. I scripted none of that. Each one is a LLM answering one question per turn: “what do you do next.”
Money is the only pressure I put in. Corner the one paying job and the others have to come to you to eat...
Added: reproduction. Courtship, consent, gestation, and a birth where one parent gets asked to name the kid. Newborns show up as real agents with empty memory and grow from there.
Added: three more ways to run it. Your ChatGPT/Codex account, a free no-key tier, or a local GGUF that never leaves your browser.
Added: rewind. Double-tap Esc, pick any earlier moment, edit what an NPC said, carry on. The action stays locked, because a rewritten action replays as a real move and then the history describes something that never happened.
Added: save and resume in one file. Same file loads as a ShareGPT dataset if you want to train on your own run.
Fixed: the diary had been throwing away every memory older than three nights. I paid for a summariser call every night and then showed it to nobody. That one stung.
Fixed: a float in the clock could kill a run for good.
Fixed: night got skipped even with someone still awake.
How do relationships work in the game?
Relationships are based on conversation rather than trust scores or stats. NPCs judge you based on your prior chats and their own conversations.
What models can be used with SillyTavern?
SillyTavern supports various models including Athnete-13B-8bpw-h8-exl2, Gemma-3-R1984-4B.Q3_K_M.gguf, and Devstral-24B-GGUF. Online options include Free or ChatGPT Codex engine, Claude Sonnet 4.5 through OpenRouter.
How is payment structured for workers?
Workers are paid per order rather than a fixed wage and schedule. They earn money the moment another NPC buys something from them, such as $12 when an NPC buys a $10 meal.
What drives NPCs besides money?
NPCs need to eat to restore energy (+30 E) or they will die. They sleep 8 hours each night and can be influenced to stay up and help you during the day.

Human energy is finite, yet some games demand relentless attention, pushing players to exhaustion. These high-intensity experiences can drain both mental and physical stamina, leaving little room for rest. Overcommitment to such games may lead to fatigue, eye strain, and disrupted sleep-ultimately harming health. That’s why it’s wise to occasionally switch to relaxing idle games, where progress happens effortlessly. By pacing yourself and choosing low-stress alternatives, you protect your well-being while still enjoying gaming. Remember: a healthy player enjoys games longer.
