Weibo brings together users from all over the globe, offering a space to discover the latest happenings—from major international events and entertainment gossip to fashion trends and travel destinations. You can share highlights from your own life with the community and receive plenty of likes and comments. The platform supports various formats, including photos, videos, text, and stickers; you can engage with topics you enjoy by liking or commenting, follow your favorite creators, and share content with friends to join in the fun. Whenever the creators you follow post an update, you’ll receive a notification, ensuring you never miss a moment. Additionally, Weibo features region-specific trending lists, keeping you informed about major local events and allowing you to stay in the loop on all the latest buzz.
Real time trends and topics: Weibo organizes hot news and conversations into topic hubs so you can track updates as they happen. The topic square highlights what people are discussing across news, music, movies, sports, fashion, and more. You can join a thread, follow a tag, and return to it later with one tap.
Multimedia posting with up to 18 images: Weibo supports text, photos, GIFs, video, and emoji in one post. You can upload as many as 18 images in a single update and choose story style short content for quick moments. This flexibility helps you document an event, create a gallery, or share a behind the scenes set easily.
Follow, repost, comment, and message: Weibo makes interaction direct and simple. You can follow accounts to build a feed, repost to amplify a message, and comment to join the discussion. Also, private messages let you keep conversations one to one while notifications help you stay on top of replies.
Celebrity and verified accounts: Weibo’s celebrity hall brings verified creators, entertainers, and public figures into one place. You can follow your idols, receive timely updates, and learn more through official posts. In addition, verified badges help you identify authentic voices quickly.
Discovery and personalized recommendations: Weibo suggests creators and posts based on your interests, which lowers the time to find quality content. You can navigate by hashtag, browse curated lists, and enter circles of people who share the same topics. Therefore, your feed becomes more relevant the more you use it.
Cross platform sharing and official ecosystem: Weibo supports quick sharing to Facebook, Twitter, and messaging apps such as WhatsApp or WeChat. The broader ecosystem also includes Micro Album for organizing media, Mini Games for casual play, Weibo Membership for added privileges, and tools that support creators and fan operations.

(The one thing I regret not knowing before using Weibo) If you are a follower of a Super Topic and want a low-effort way of being a little bit more supportive of your idol: You can "sign-in" to Super Topics once a day. To do this, tap on the calendar icon once you enter the Super Topic, which is near the top right corner. If you're using Weibo through its website, click on the button that says "Check in" located in the top panel (banner?) of the Super Topic page.
30+ consecutive days of signing-in gives you a max of 8 EXP/day. You need EXP to level up in a Super Topic. I'm not too clear on the other ways to gain EXP, but I think commenting, posting, and people commenting on your posts all give EXP. "Liking" does not give EXP. For some context, in the one and only Super Topic I follow, I am level 9 with 1599 EXP and 202 days signed-in, but I rarely post or comment. 2000 EXP is needed for level 10, 3000 EXP for level 11, but then 300k EXP needed for level 18 which is the max level.
When posting in a Super Topic and you don't want the post to be seen from your Weibo page, don't forget to uncheck the option that says "Sync to Weibo".
The overall "likes" a post has also includes the "likes" of the comments under the post. So, if you want to make a post look like it has more "likes" from the outside, you can mass "like" the comments under the post. (With the app, there's a way to see which "likes" are for the post and which are for the comments, but I'll leave that for you to figure out)
Pictures you post onto Weibo will have your own watermark on it. To post without the watermark, you will have to change your account preferences in settings. Ask me if you can't figure it out.

Most things are user friendly or easy to figure out. A blog/vlog feature that you can expand into categories with public, private and/or friends only sharing options would be good. I know of any other social media that has this. Just a thought. Remember me if you use it. It would be nice to show my kids someone liked my idea.
I got this because of my absolute favorite Chinese actor ( Vengo Gao) from peach blossoms and eternal love of dreams. and I found him there so excited. It's kind of hard in the beginning trying to sign up for it because of the language but I got the hang of it finally and just translating everything. Super excited and thank you for making it possible for the US fans whom are obsessed with the Chinese drama.
It's more simple than the CN version, yet It's also have the same function as the CN version. I hope there's have the function which is we could see the unread message button which is convenient for us to check back the message. Also, I hope there's having “quote” function which we could tag what message we're reply to them.
