So far this is a fun little game! I have been playing on a Steam Deck OLED. I set frame rate 30 since it isn't the type of game where you can see the difference, and my estimated battery is over 8hrs!!! There isn't controller support, but it works wonderfully with the track pads. I certainly will continue to play this game when I want to play a game while listening to a podcast or audiobook.

It's a cool idea and fun for a few runs, but overall, very shallow compared to others in the genre.There is not very much build variety and very little room for creativity in builds. The items that are meant to synergize are very obvious, so there is nothing crazy and unexpected you can do. Axes go with axes, magic goes with magic, etc. After a few runs the rewarding feeling of putting a build together wears off.There is very little meta-progression. You unlock a few extra perks for each character, none of which impact the game very much. 3x gold for defeating elites? Wow, who cares.If this is your first roguelite deckbuilder it's worth it, for people who own Balatro, just go play that.

I have some quibbles with this game but I have found it overall enjoyable. Late game sucks, and this is where it really needs some tweaks, but the lead up to that was pretty fun.The biggest complaint I have is that some of the characters are very badly balanced compared to others. Elaine SUCKS. She is so weak and it's extremely difficult to make progress with her. This could be fixed by also addressing another issue I have, which is that the equipment ultimately doesn't have much variety and you end up having to run the same builds over and over no matter which character you're playing. This leads to the game feeling really stale and monotonous when you're grinding to get those final achievements.I think it would improve the game vastly to add a bit of survivability and variety to the equipment and make things more beneficial when specced to the character. For instance, adding lifesteal to certain agility-based weapons would help Elaine's survivability tremendously. It would also help if Elaine got a bonus to agility weapons so that it benefits her to use them. And same for other characters, give them slight bonuses to certain weapon types so there's more a sense of difference between the characters. Or give a universal bonus based on their character-specific weapons - for example, give Elaine some kind of bonus that scales with gold, maybe a bonus to all agility weapons, not just damage to her unique weapon which can't scale enough to carry through to the end on higher difficulties.
