SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB
Introduction

SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB is an action-adventure game adapted from the classic animated series. Players will embark on an adventure in Bikini Bottom with many familiar companions. Each companion has unique skills, and you need to choose the right characters to form a team to advance the story and defeat the evil Plankton's plans to protect the peace of Bikini Bottom. The game also features a variety of items that can be used. Utilize these items strategically to perform actions such as jumping and diving to successfully complete puzzles, earn more rewards, and develop and unlock new characters.

Gameplay of SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB:

The core gameplay of SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB involves gathering collectibles in various areas around Bikini Bottom by crossing platforms and avoiding environmental hazards like spikes and flames. The player also faces the robots which have been attacking Bikini Bottom. Some areas require different characters to beat, as each character has unique abilities. The player can control SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. Switching characters in console versions require the player to find a Bus Stop. Upon using it the current character will switch to another, and using it again will switch back to the previous character, giving the player an option of two characters in each level. The default character throughout the game is SpongeBob; Sandy and Patrick do not share any levels as playable characters.

The game is a 3D platformer, requiring players to collect three main types of items. "Shiny Objects" are the game's main currency and can be used to pay tolls within game areas or to buy golden spatulas from Mr. Krabs. 'Golden Spatulas' are used to grant access to new areas. They are hidden throughout the game and can also be earned by completing tasks set by Squidward Tentacles and several other characters from the cartoon. Patrick's 'Socks' are also spread throughout the game and he will reward SpongeBob with a Golden Spatula in exchange for 10 of his socks. SpongeBob can also blow bubbles to form different shapes as special attacks/moves which can be used to advance further in the game, and can learn two new bubble moves from Bubble Buddy as the game progresses.

The game also utilises props for puzzle-solving. Trampolines help the player bounce to further ledges or platforms, buttons activate certain things throughout the game, and pressure pads are like buttons; however, they are only active while the player stands on the pressure pad, or there is another object placed on top. There are also character-specific abilities, including Sandy being able to swing from Texas hooks, SpongeBob being able to dive downward on a bungee hook, and Patrick's ability to pick up and throw melons called "Throw Fruits" and ice cubes called "Freeze Fruits". Though some areas can be navigated by any character, several sections can only be completed with a specific character, due to each one having unique abilities. SpongeBob can create a bubble helmet for head-butting enemies. Patrick can throw objects at buttons, robots, and pressure pads, and can throw "Freeze Fruits" into the bodies of Goo to freeze them. Finally, Sandy can glide over large gaps and destroy enemies and objects with her lasso.

Features of SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB:

Three Playable Characters: SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB builds its platforming around three characters instead of one fixed hero. SpongeBob handles many core moves, Patrick brings object-throwing strength, and Sandy adds wider movement with her lasso swings. This gives stages a clear rhythm because some paths or tasks make more sense with a specific character. The character changes are useful during regular exploration, not just special moments. SpongeBob’s bubble moves help with robot fights and distant targets, while Patrick can pick up and throw objects needed for certain puzzles. Sandy feels especially helpful when a gap looks too wide for a normal jump. This variety keeps the adventure from feeling like a simple run-and-jump game, although players using touch controls may need a little time to adjust to tighter movement sections.

Bikini Bottom Exploration: SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB gives players a structured tour through familiar SpongeBob locations while keeping the focus on missions and collectibles. The game uses signs, character conversations, and area goals to point players toward the next task. These hints help the adventure stay readable without turning every objective into a long explanation.Progress often depends on collecting Golden Spatulas, which act as the main key to new areas and later goals such as reaching important parts of the story. Along the way, players also gather Shiny Objects, Patrick’s socks, steering wheels, artwork, crystals, and other mission items. This collectible design suits players who enjoy checking corners and revisiting spots, but it can feel repetitive if the main interest is only finishing the story. A practical way to play is to follow the main route first, then return for missed items once more movement options are available.

Robot Battles And Boss Fights: SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB keeps combat simple enough for casual SpongeBob fans, while still asking players to watch enemy patterns. Plankton’s robot army appears across Bikini Bottom, and each encounter usually rewards timing more than button mashing. SpongeBob’s Bubble Bash, Bubble Bowl, and guided bubble attacks give the combat more range than a basic jump attack.Boss fights follow a classic platformer style. Players observe the arena, wait for a weak moment, and then use the required character skill to deal damage. This works well because the fights are tied to the character system rather than feeling separate from the rest of the game. On smaller screens, some boss arenas and precision jumps may feel demanding, so a controller can make these sections more comfortable. The game supports full controller play, which fits the console-style design especially well.

Useful Tips of SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB:

You can Bubble Bash in mid-air: If you find the Bubble Bash difficult to work with, there's a handy new adjustment for Rehydrated that makes it more versatile and easy to use: you can now activate it in the middle of a jump! While this doesn't give you any extra height, nor does it work in a Double Jump, this makes it much easier to hit Chuck Robots, Monsoon Robots and rescue the Children in Goo Lagoon.

Pay attention to Button symbols: Different Buttons have different symbols to tell you how you should hit them. If a Button has a hand symbol, it should be pressed with a melee attack. If there's a circle on it, hit it with a Throw Fruit as Patrick. A bowling pin symbol means a Button should be struck with a Bubble-Bowl, and a square target reticule means you should use a Cruise Bubble on it!

The Cruise Bubble is a game-changer: Once you get the Cruise Bubble, a lot of enemies and Tikis become trivial since you can hit them from extreme distances. Use this to your advantage, especially with Moonsoon Robots, Chuck Robots and Slick Robots!

Know both of Patrick's ground pound moves: Patrick's ground pound move is different depending on if you Jump or Double Jump. In a normal Jump, he'll cannonball into the ground, which only stuns/damages enemies he makes direct contact with. In a Double Jump, he'll do a powerful Belly Flop that releases a shockwave to stun/damage enemies instead. Needless to say, the Belly Flop is much more desireable because of its larger range!

Double Jump onto freezing water: When jumping onto goo that you've just frozen with a Freezy Fruit, it's a good idea to Double Jump as you do so. This helps prevents landing in the goo and getting hurt before its frozen, which wastes valuable time!

Use Sandy against Tar-tar Robots: Robots that take two hits to kill like the Tar-Tar Robot are best taken out with Sandy's Lasso: it deals twice as much damage and thus can take them out in one hit.

Sandy's Lasso is great on large Robots: Sandy's mid-air Lasso is the best way to take out larger foes such as Tar-tar and Chuck Robots, especially since she can use it multiple times without falling very far. This makes her the best choice to take these enemies on, however Monsoon Robots she cannot tackle.

I feel like I'm a kid again playing N64 or PS game, but with modern graphics!!! The story is fun, loads of characters and throw backs, and the controls are easy to understand. Even playing on a phone it's still good. 10/10.

got it for $1.99 on sale. very good port and cheaper then switch or pc. Connect a controller if you want very playable without it. Highly recommend it! brings back good memories.

Helio G96, with 6GB of RAM here.// The game could run on Max settings, but expect to drop fps on some areas, and of course the phone gets hot, around 42⁰C.// Set the Display settings to Lowest, and 30 FPS, probably could fix the heat problem.// Also, don't forget to relaunch the game after you change the Display settings.// The game is also better when using a controller, I'm using a type-C controller, and it's good.

great game, great experience on my oneplus 13R (sdm 8 gen 3), device did heat up, but i played on max settings and 60fps so expected. highly recommended for people grew up watching SpongeBob, i didn't play original ps2 verson of this game, but have watched SpongeBob a lot in my childhood and having patrick and sandy as playable characters was also great! got 28/32 achievements as for now. i played with my xbox controller and support is good, with moga clip connected so i could play anywhere!

I 100%'d this on my phone. Most F.U.N I've ever had on a mobile game in a while,The graphics are Good, and I had no trouble with the buttons or the game. And just to be clear, I 100%'d without internet or phone service. The best part is that I got it for 10 cents, I thought it was only a demo until I kept playing it for a month. 100% offline. I recommend it for yall!

Final Thoughts:

SpongeBob SquarePants BfBB continues to deliver its classic 3D platforming charm with several notable enhancements that enrich the overall gameplay experience. This remastered edition stays true to the original’s humor and level design while integrating smoother controls and improved visuals.
