Features of Morningstar:

Crash-landed on a desolate, alien planet, what should've been a routine work-for-hire job for Powell has become a deadly mission to save the merchant vessel Morningstar and her crew. With one man dead and the captain gravely injured, Powell is on his own to repair the ship and find a way to escape the strange gravity well of the empty planet they've landed on. And if the situation weren't dire enough, the only signs of life on the planet are the remains of a much larger and better equipped ship and her crew, all dead, and not by natural means. What--or who--brought down these ships and is killing their crews? For what reason? And can Powell find a way off-planet before he shares the same fate?

Experience an immersive sci-fi adventure, packed with gorgeous HD graphics, brand-new puzzles and scenes, and an all-new, streamlined interface.

Newly remastered cinematics display the haunting landscapes in beautiful high definition.

Uncover the mystery of Deadrock through new and optimized puzzles and an extended storyline.

Player Comments of Morningstar:

If you're new to adventure games and want a gentle introduction that will leave a strong impression, Morningstar definitely should be among your first choices. And even if you're an adventure veteran then you should be able to find something here that will engage you and, like us, leave you hoping for a sequel.

Remember the good old days somewhere in the beginning of the Nineties? We didn't have gazillions of polygons and shaders, those listtle DOS games have had to make it by providing a good overall atmosphere, and a nice story. The heaven for adventure games. (Fast forwarding) Remember the unexpected rebirth of the genre in browser based Flash games? Especially the "locked room" types where you were alone in a creepy place and had to find clues and tools to escape?Okay. Mix these two together and you have Morningstar. This is not a game in shiny armor (so it doesn't have much movemment and action during the game), but it sure has a feeling that will pull you back until you have finished with the whole quest. The main story is a bit of a cliche - stranded in an alien planet, okay. But in the other hand the atmosphere is really cool, the graphics are nice and the ingame ambient soundscapes are giving you the chills. You find items, combine them and use them in the right places, solve puzzles (not too easy and not extremely hard either) to advance.

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is a heavy, challenging adventure game. When it comes to puzzles, you are thrown in at the deep end completely, as there are rarely any hints. The result is a pure point-and-click experience that both rewards and frustrates.

So I played this waaaaay back as a free flash game and it was amazing when it first came out. Really big game for the time and fabulous graphics with actually interesting cinematics. If you try and find it online today, it's sad that the voice work has been removed. When I saw it on here, I kinda rejoiced. It's not terribly long, or complicated, but somehow everything just fits right. It's a nice, honest, and surprisingly solid little adventure game. Thankfully, the game's been remastered a bit. The graphics aren't much better, but they are slightly improved. Some new voice work. It's about as quality as its previous iteration but I actually like it a lot. It somehow strikes me as fitting in spite of it being rather deadpan. I miss the character portraits though.Anyhoo, the game doesn;t have too much additional content compared to its free counterpart, so it's up to you whether you want this experience, or the slightly less in-depth one. The differences aren't worth the price tag, but if you've got the cash, I'd recommend the buy. The game's solid and I'd love to see the developers get some support and make a new game. They definitely got some talent for it.All in all, I'm quite happy with my purchase and would suggest it, though for obvious reasons it's not for everbody.

Walkthrough of Morningstar:

Morningstar: Turn left to go to the corridor, and pick up the wrench from the ground. Search the cargo container to find a doll, then use your wrench on the control panel so you can enter the cockpit. Talk to Captain Novak, then pick up the blue screwdriver and return to the corridor, then turn right. Use the doll on the control panel here, then go through the door to the engine room. Pic up the glue gun here, and search the space between the cabinets to get an adhesive compartment; put this in the glue gun. Use your screwdriver and then wrench on the power conduit panel. Pick up the broken fuel cell, then return to the corridor and climb up the ladder to the medical room.Approach the wall panel and open the first aid box, taking the syringe from inside. Climb down the ladder twice to reach the cargo bay. Search all of the containers to find a firecracker. Use the syringe on the tub of industrial nanoglue. Climb back up the ladder and go to Captain Novak in the cockpit. Use the nanoglue on him and you will get a steel rod. Go back down to the cargo bay and use the steel rod on the cargo containers blocking the way. Now head through to the loading area.Pick up the can of beer from the ground and search the cargo container to get a gas mask. Return to the medical room and use the keyboard, then head back down to the corridor. Pour the beer into the drain, then search the drain to get an applicator head. Use this on the glue gun to complete its construction. Next use your wrench on the hibernation fluid tube, then take the adapter tube and electric wires. Return to the cargo bay and use the assembled glue bun on the tub of industrial nanoglue. Approach to the wall panel again and use your screwdriver on the service panel. Use your wrench on the steel pipe to get it, then also pick up the insulation from behind it. Now combine the adapter tube with the gas mask, before adding the insulation and then using the glue gun on it; you now have a makeshift filter.Go back to the cockpit and look at the fancy screens on the right - click on the Ventilation label to turn it off. Go back to the medical room and turn right. Take the used carbon filter from the ventilator, then put your makeshift filter in its place. Return to the cockpit and use the fancy screens to turn Ventilation back on. Examine the hull to the lower left of the cockpit, then use the glue gun on the hull breach that you find. Go up to the medical room and examine the hull behind the steel pipes, then use the glue gun here. Next go down to the cargo bay loading area. Examine the hull to the lower right, then use the glue gun once more to seal the final breach.Head up to the medical room and look to the right, then pick up the glass container. Return down to the corridor and collect some of the green hibernation fluid in the container. Go up to medical again and put the green fluid into the analyzer on the desk to the right. Head down to the cargo bay loading area and use your wires on the control panel to override it. Use the control panel, then exit the ship.Examine the sand, then pick up the saltpeter from the sand before heading to the desert. Try to head to the Military Cruiser Wreck.

Gorge: Go to the weird stone heads and search the cargo container to get some insect repellent. Use this on your used carbon filter, then add the saltpeter to make gunpowder. Use the gunpowder on the huge stone pillar, then use your firecracker on it to form a bridge. Cross the gorge and walk to the desert. Now you can really head to the wreck.

Military Cruiser Wreck: Enter the shipwreck and search the corpse to get Mendez's pass. Take the energy cable, then go through to the Hibernation room. Go to the lockers on the right and use the passcard to open Mendez's locker. Take the loaded rifle from inside, then go back to the cockpit. Climb down the ladder and use your rifle on the control panel, then your steel rod on the door. Go through the door and approach the engine. Search the corpse here to get Habib's log and learn of a new location on your map. Use your wrench on the plasma coupling, and pick up the plasma injector. Look at the map in your inventory to travel again.

Gorge (part 2): Use the energy cable on the top portable pylon then climb down to the ledge. Search the cargo container to get some copper wire, and search the corpse to get a shovel head. Use your map once more.

Camp: Search both corpses to get a taser and Rosso's log, and you will get another new location on your map. Search the dead gunner to get Coulter's pass. Pick up the rope and tent pole. Look behind the boulder. Combine your steel pipe and shovel head, then use the shovel on the grave. Search the corpse to get a broken scanner. Return to the camp and use the shovel on the cargo container to get a broken radio. Combine this with the broken scanner, then add the tent pole to make a long range scanner. Open your map and use the long range scanner on the approximate source of distress beacon to get a proper source. Now travel to the source of the distress beacon.
