Excellent software. I have one suggestion. Whenever we receive a communication, the app should pop up so that there is not much delay in giving reply. But of course, this is to be made optional.

this app is so good. but it would be nice to be able to set more sounds, to let me know if my microphone is muted or if connection changes, and make the talk permit tone better. like a constant 305 hz if it fails to transmit or if microphone is muted or cant detect one. and if connection is wrong or off then no tpt. that would be amazing, as well as keybinds, and other actions that are programmable, would be banger and would pay for it.

I love this app for a variety of reasons. 1. It works like a walkie talkie, but with completely unlimited range. 2. you can exit the app so that you don't receive messages. (this is GREAT especially if you are off the clock. ) 3. it records all of the messages. this is great when you work with the " i didn't say that" guy. you can LITERALLY hit a button and prove them wrong. (beware! if you say "i wanna bang the bosses daughter " someone else can hit a button and take your job!).

Have used Zello for four years now as back-up channel for mountain rescue. When digital radio runs out of range, Zello is our comms of choice. If we get called, out of area, it will keep us connected with Base. Sound quality better than DMR. Range, anywhere in the 3/4/5G network. All calls recorded and can be reviewed eg. when your driving, can't touch the phone and an important location is given.

What is Pre-Buffering and how does it work?

For platforms where Jitter Adjustment Threshold setting is present, Pre-Buffering defines the default buffer size, which is used before the algorithm has sufficient data to adjust the buffer size based on network conditions.

Is it possible to rename channels?

No, it is not currently possible to rename channels. 

How are voice messages saved locally?

Zello utilizes circular buffer to locally store history on devices. In practice, this mean  the oldest stored messages will be deleted to make room for newer messages once the storage limit has been reached. Maximum storage is determined by either the end-user from their in-app settings, or by an admin from the management console's Settings page (operating system > local device history). 

Can I choose an audio source from Dispatch Hub?

Zello's Dispatch Hub uses your computer's default audio source. For example, if a headset is configured as the default audio source for your laptop, then Zello will automatically apply that headset to its audio input and output.Zello doesn't support choosing your preferred audio source from inside the app for iOS and Android users; Windows, however, allows users to select their audio output on an app-by-app basis.

Does the legacy PC app app support USB microphones?

The legacy PC app supports USB microphones. Make sure you select the microphone under Tools > Options > Audio > Recording device.PTT can triggered using HID. So you can use a keyboard, and map one of the keys to the Zello PTT button, or any other accessory that uses HID such as a foot pedal.
