Really like this app. Somehow since OneUI8.5 it interferes with Galaxy Store. If you uninstall IceBox, then restart device, Galaxy Store works good. Then after reinstalling and adb enabling IceBox, then an few restarts later Galaxy Store is gone again and cannot be accessed anymore. (Store was not freezed through IceBox). Would love if you find a way to fix that.

Scared the cr@p out of me. Had this installed for nearly a year... or maybe longer. A few days ago I couldn't recall why I installed this and wasn't 100% certain what this would do so I froze almost every installed app to see what would happen. Nearly every icon vanished from my home screen and I was locked out of most of the features of my launcher. Immediately removed all apps from the ice box and all apps returned to Android's menu (but my custom home screen icons were wiped out). Uninstalled ice box. Four days later I try reinstalling but fail because phone is not compatible with newest version of app. I realized how useful having had this on my phone for so long had been. Was set it and forget it to stop annoying apps from annoying me. Once I uninstalled Ice Box the apps started annoying me all over again. Now to find an old version and reinstall it so Ice box can rescue me. Again. An easy five stars...as long as you know what this is for.

This app is amazing. It's perfectly designed for one task and one task only, freezing apps that you rarely use and don't want running in the background but making sure they are there when needed. It supports icon packs and the user experience is great! It saves a ton of time that I spent freezing and unfreezing apps via Link2SD.

one of the most useful apps (for rooted devices) there is. so easy to use and launch freezed apps that I found myself freezing most of my apps. whenever i want to use my parking app, public scooter app, aliexpress, amazon, ebay, bank app, etc. etc. I simply launch it from the freezer, use it and freeze it back. no more apps eating up my battery everyday just so i can use them once a week. Love it.

What does freezing an app mean?

A frozen app is disabled or hidden by the system. It cannot run, cannot start itself in the background, and does not appear on the home screen or in the app drawer, but the app and its data are still there. Once you defrost it in Ice Box, the app is back to normal.

What is the difference between freezing and uninstalling?

Uninstalling deletes the app and its data. Freezing only stops the app from running for the time being: its data is not affected, and you can keep using it after you defrost it. For pre-installed system apps that cannot be uninstalled, freezing is also a way to disable them.

How do I add a frozen app back to the home screen?

In Ice Box, long-press the app icon and choose "Add to Launcher". When you tap this shortcut, Ice Box defrosts the app first and then opens it.

The notification shade says "This device is managed by your organization". Is that normal?

Yes. This is exactly how Ice Box's Device Owner mode works. Setting up Device Owner is currently the only permanent way to freeze apps without root. The system shows this text and it cannot be removed, but you can change the "Organization Name" to any text you like in the Ice Box "Laboratory".

Phone settings say Device Owner can read my calendar, email and other personal info. Does Ice Box read them?

No. Ice Box has been updated continuously since 2015, and it only uses the Device Owner features it needs, such as freezing apps. It does not use any unrelated features, so you can use it with peace of mind.

On Huawei and Xiaomi phones, apps ask for permissions again every time they open, and freezing says the app was uninstalled?

On Xiaomi phones, turn off "MIUI optimization". We have not found a matching switch on other phones yet.
