DELTARUNE is an episodic action-adventure game where players follow young Chris and his companions on a journey to save the dark world. Players choose from different characters to form a team, explore an open world to collect various items, and solve puzzles to acquire more resources to strengthen their characters. Of course, you will also encounter various enemies and monsters. In turn-based combat, choose the appropriate characters to act, whether using skills to fight, items to enhance, or defense—the choice is yours. Defeat your enemies and continue your journey. The game is currently being continuously updated, with more story content, new characters, and gameplay features to be introduced, bringing players even more enjoyment.
Deltarune is a role-playing video game with a top-down perspective. The player controls a human named Kris Dreemurr and has a party of other characters who they select actions for during battle. The game features both overworld and combat sections. In the overworld, the player can solve puzzles, collect items, and interact with characters and the environment. Different chapters introduce unique traversal mechanics, such as climbing, or statues that shift the game into a 2D platformer with action-based combat. Unlike Undertale, Deltarune does not have a random encounter system; instead, players can see the enemies in the environment before they encounter them, allowing for the possibility of avoiding or deliberately initiating combat.
The game uses a turn-based combat system, where players can choose from a set of actions each turn: fight, act, item, spare, and defend. As in Undertale, players control a heart-shaped soul in a fixed area and must dodge enemy attacks in the form of bullets, though the exact mechanics are sometimes unique to the respective enemy. Defending or "grazing" an incoming attack by letting it come close to the heart without getting hit by it increases the tension points (TP) gauge, which allows party members to use spells or special abilities. For example, Ralsei can pacify tired enemies with a spell.
Players may use acts and spells to spare enemies non-violently. The second chapter introduced the ability to use this strategy to recruit enemies to live in the player's Castle Town. Alternatively, fighting an enemy, which also increases TP, can lead to them being defeated violently and causes party members to gain HP and magic power after the battle ends.

Unforgettable Character Dynamics: Play as Kris and form an unlikely alliance with Susie and Ralsei. Watch as their personalities clash and harmonize in a beautifully written story about friendship and destiny.
Choice-Driven Narrative: Your decisions are at the heart of the experience. Interact with a diverse cast of monsters and NPCs, where your actions influence your journey and the world around you.
Stunning Pixel Art & Cinematics: Immerse yourself in a vibrant world brought to life with meticulously designed pixel art and cinematic scene transitions that pull you deeper into the story.
Charming Humor & Deep Lore: Balanced perfectly between light-hearted jokes and profound mystery, the writing keeps you engaged from the first minute to the last.
Innovative Battle System: DELTARUNE introduces a sophisticated hybrid combat system. Blend traditional turn-based RPG commands with real-time reflex-based dodging, making every encounter an adrenaline-pumping experience.

Try To Recruit Foes Rather Than Defeat Them: The new chapter of Deltarune introduces enemy recruitment, which, as the name suggests, allows you to recruit enemies by sparing them. Once an enemy is recruited, they are sent to Castle Town where you can interact with them any time you choose, along with a hidden perk becoming available.Towards the end of the game, right before the final boss, the true purpose of the recruitment mechanic is revealed. In the final battle, you use a mech called the Thrash Machine to fight the final boss. This machine's HP is entirely based on how many enemies you have recruited, so if you neglect to do so, you're put at a disadvantage in a rather difficult fight.
Be Careful Not To Lose An Enemy: While sparing and recruiting enemies is a core mechanic within the game, it isn't necessarily a requirement to complete Deltarune Chapter 2. Much like in the first chapter and in Undertale, there exists an alternative route. A far more aggressive approach to the numerous encounters.Instead of sparing every enemy, you can choose to attack and harm them instead. While this doesn't kill them (at least at first), you will Lose that enemy. When an enemy is Lost, it becomes impossible to recruit that type of opponent, even if you have already recruited the same enemy prior to that encounter. This means missing out on unique dialogue, the health bonus for the final boss, as well as some of the challenges at the Party Dojo.
Recruiting Starwalker and Hacker: There are two characters that can be recruited but are not encountered in battle like the others. Starwalker is actually a key item like Lancer and Rouxls Kaard. However, they are only obtained should you speak to them in Deltarune Chapter 1, back at the Forest.Another such character is Hacker, who is a little more difficult to pin down. When first encountered, they give you an optional request to locate a few hidden items. Collecting them and returning to Hacker will complete this mission and they will be recruited, but if you ignore them, they remain where they are and other characters take notice.
Even Experienced Players Should Check Out The Party Dojo: This new area within Castle Town offers a tutorial for new players, as well as a series of challenges for others. It may seem like a waste of time, but it can be beneficial to stop and take the time to participate in what the Dojo has to offer. For one thing, even for avid fans of the franchise, it has been three years since a new game has been released. Many players are rusty and playing the tutorial can only help with that. What's more, there are quite a few useful items that can be obtained throuhg the dojo's challenges.
You Should Explore Everywhere: Despite the rather straightforward storyline, there are still a multitude of secrets to find within Deltarune. As with Undertale, health items, pieces of equipment, and even some surprising secrets can all be found, should you take the time to look. Even the route to the game's secret boss requires you to tread off the beaten path. That being said, because of that linear plotline, certain paths close up if not immediately explored. Should you focus on progressing the game instead of exploring every avenue, certain items and easter eggs will be lost.

Deltarune won me over because it’s complex and heart-wrenchingly earnest. This earnestness is what keeps people coming back for more. The art, music, and gameplay simply serve this earnest passion for video games. This game burns bright because of that passion, and it’s something you need to see to believe.
A game that is as close to perfection as anything ever will be. The music is phenomenal, the story is incredible, and the characters are more lovable than any other game I've played. It also does an incredible job making you feel every emotion. I laughed harder than other games I've played, and cried an equal amount. I was horrified and exhilarated in equal parts, and they never felt like they detracted from each other. The main cast is also very relatable and every sentence is moving in one way or another. A perfect ten for a perfect game.
Deltarune is a game that can feel odd to recommend, as it’s both difficult to convey in words what makes this game feel special and… well, it still isn’t done. Its goofy and subversive narrative, innovative battle mechanics, and killer soundtrack all combine to make this one worth the purchase in its current state, even if it is unfinished and the visuals still feel a tad underwhelming. At any rate, I’d suggest you pick this one up; there’s no telling when the story will finally wrap up, but the release of the latest two chapters has done a lot to round out what once felt a little anaemic.
Deltarune is a subversive epic that defies conventions and keeps the laughs coming every minute of its lengthy runtime. The most staggering aspect of it is that this isn't even its final form. Purchasing Deltarune chapters 1-4 is a ticket for the eventual chapters 5-7, which will expand the scope of the story and surely take things in an unpredictable direction if the conclusion of chapter 4 is anything to go by. Undertale wasn't without its faults and neither is Deltarune, but once the story, gags, and characters unfold, it's the kind of game that lingers, leaving a powerful and unforgettable experience. It's the kind of lasting impression that supersedes flaws.
This game was life changing, with incredible story and characters, an incredibly fun and intuitive combat system, and incredible pixel art. Even though it’s only 5 chapters in as of writing this, this is easily my favorite video game of all time. Easily recommend to anybody!

How much will future chapters cost?
Nothing! They'll be made available as free updates once they're ready to release.

I said no to importing save data, but I changed my mind. How do I make the import message appear again?
The import message only appears if you do not have any save data from the full version on your console. So if you just started the game but changed your mind about wanting to import data, the only way to make the import message appear again is by deleting your full version save data and starting up the game again. Obviously, take great care whenever you attempt to delete any save data, as once it's gone, you typically cannot get it back.
I'm on a different computer or console account from the one I played the demo with. Do I have to replay Chapters 1 and 2 before I can try Chapters 3 or 4?
No. You can play any chapter you like, right from the start. As long as you generally remember what happened story-wise, you'll be fine. (Of course, it's recommended to play the chapters in order the first time you play.)
Players will have to go through a journey into a parallel world called DELTARUNE. This long journey will be the cooperation of 3 friends, Kris, Susie, and Ralsei. Each of them has their own personality, but they form a very compatible team. Entering this dark world, the friends will have to confront many different monsters. They bring extremely eye-catching and dangerous battles. However, with a very close team spirit, all 3 people will overcome easily. Besides, the game also includes very charming jokes, making players feel comfortable every time they enter the game.
