Metal Slug 2

METAL SLUG 2 is a classic side-scrolling action-shooter. Players utilize a variety of melee and ranged weapons to battle through relentless waves of enemies, ultimately reaching the end of each stage to confront a boss. Along the way, you may encounter captured allies; by defeating their captors, you can rescue them and earn random rewards and bonus points. As the game progresses, you can switch to more powerful weapons—such as laser guns, incendiary grenades, or armor-piercing rounds—and commandeer various vehicles, allowing you to overcome tougher foes and secure victory with ease.

Gameplay of Metal Slug 2:

Gameplay in Metal Slug 2 is similar to the previous game; the player must shoot constantly at a continual stream of enemies in order to reach the end of each level. At this point, the player confronts a boss, who is usually considerably larger and tougher than regular enemies. On the way through each level, the player can find numerous weapon upgrades and "Metal Slug" tanks. The tank is known as the SV-001 ("SV" stands for Super Vehicle), which increases the player's offense and considerably adds to their defense.

In addition to shooting, the player can perform melee attacks by using a knife and/or kicking. The player does not die by coming into contact with enemies, and correspondingly, many of the enemy troops have melee attacks. Much of the game's scenery is destructible, and occasionally, this reveals extra items or power-ups.

During the course of a level, the player encounters prisoners of war (POWs), who, if freed, offer the player bonuses in the form of random items or weapons. At the end of each level, the player receives a scoring bonus based on the number of freed POWs. If the player dies before the end of the level, the tally of freed POWs reverts to zero.

Metal Slug 2 introduces the ability for characters to transform during the course of the game. As well as doubling the number of available player characters from two to four, Metal Slug 2 introduces in-game characters to help the player in battle. The first is Hyakutaro Ichimonji, a prisoner who, when rescued, will fight alongside the player, throwing Hadouken balls at enemies, or roundhouse kicking them if they get within melee range. Another character is Sgt. Rumi Aikawa, an army supplier who lacks a sense of direction, earning her the title "The Wandering Ghost"; she carries a huge, overstuffed backpack and drops random items for the player to collect (more are dropped if the backpack is shot or cut).

Missions in Metal Slug 2:

Drifting in Desert: Fight through a desert settlement, ride the armed Camel Slug, and face the Keesi II bomber.

Monument of Depression: Enter ruins packed with bats and mummies before battling the drilling machine Aeshi Nero.

Madrigal of Wind: Cross moving supply trains while avoiding soldiers, aircraft, and gaps between the cars.

Return to Hong-Kong: Push through busy streets and destroy Big Shiee, a huge battleship that moves on land.

Kiss in the Dark: Battle across city streets, a subway tunnel, and sewers on the way to the Hozmi submarine.

I Wish to Believe in Love: Break into a snowy military base as the fight with Morden turns into an alien invasion.

Graphics- 10 We all know the review has become predictable. The graphics are simply amazing in prospect, you can see great animation in each moving person or object.

(Take a look at the suited guy who holds the paper) It is a sight to behold and is beautiful.

Sound- 10 From Gunshots to explosions, to human BBQ, its all there.

With such great sound it feels as though you are in a 2D mega war, brings you right in.

The music could not do the game more justice, simply put from my cd experience is excellent.

And is definately one of the CD's most beautiful ST's.

Replay-10 Its obvious why, slug leaves nothing to be desired as it incorperates the best elements to get your ass back to that stick/pad.

This is up there with KOF 98, the replay is excellent. The thought of exploding vehicles and Fio will have even the least fun people coming back for more.

Even when beatin, this game still brings you back.

Character Design-9.0 Great concepts this time around, with Fio & Tarma looking as kick ass as ever. When you see the characters on screen converse (enemies for example) it brings that feeling of dedication every SNK fan has.

Over All-I highly reccomend this game, from personal experience its great.

It has the lot of gaming enjoyment.

And a shooter fans shelves are simply disgraced not to have this bad boy up there, in any form.

Slug proves its ass again. And its your job to get it.

Final Thoughts:

All in all, METAL SLUG 2 is an action-packed game that offers an array of new features, completely separating it from the first installment of the Metal Slug series. While it recycles the first game's final boss, this release has its own identity due to the new elements added in this installment. Unfortunately, there are reported encounters of drawbacks, including black screens, hard controls, and FPS drops.
